I don't think they have the right guys to pull it off, but if they can't make any moves, they'll get stuck doing something odd. - Lunaion
Dahlin and jokiharju had surprisingly good on ice numbers together. Only issue was the XGF was much higher than the actual. Could just be bad on ice luck/opp team save percentage.
Then you'd put Power with Clifton and Samuelsson with Johnson. Or swap them around if need be.
One of the major issues last year was how heavily the top 4 was leaned on, mostly cause the 3rd pair couldnt be trusted to play any minutes when the game was close. |

Bumping Joker up in the lineup and Samuelsson way down would be something.
Still wonder who calls the shots and why.

Oh I dont know if theyll actually do that, its just something im speculating based on their moves.
I suspected this even back when they were trying for chychrun but they clearly care about the L/R split more than they led on.
They may still leave the top pair in tact. |

2 weeks later, with no moves, I'm more confused by them than ever.
I don't know what they actually believe, but pairing 2 R shots has always been a bridge too far to me. They rarely have any experience playing their off-side. But here we are, with 4 3rd pair quality RD.

Which two righties are being paired together? 26-10, 25-75, 23-whatever EJ wears.
alternate: 26-23, 25-75, stillman-joker/johnson. The two righties wont play together |

Let's assume they don't make that major change.
Dahlin- Samuelsson
Power-Clifton
3 R shots
Stillman

"The Arizona Coyotes have placed forward Alex Galchenyuk on unconditional waivers for the purposes of terminating his contract, just 12 days after signing him as a free agent.
An NHL source told ESPN that the Coyotes discovered an "off-ice situation" impacting Galchenyuk that was previously unknown to the team. The NHLPA said it is reviewing the decision on the behalf of Galchenyuk, who will become an unrestricted free agent again."

I think lyubushkin is more or less done here. Stillman would likely draw in as the LHD and theyd rotate jokiharju and Johnson.
But thats also why my assumption is they do a full L/R split for each pair. |

I don't think that's how it will play out.
Stillman played like 9 minutes a night. Jokiharju played 20 and Johnson cost them 3 mil.
Stillman will be the 7/8 guy IMO |

Hilarious that we're this late in the offseason and give away Joker vs Joker 1st pair is a real conversation.

I dont think its a likely scenario either, I just think its more likely than Johnson and Jokiharju being the R/R third pair.

I dont want to make excuses for them, but I cant call it late in the off season. 26 teams have been largely asleep. 90% of the trade board hasnt moved.
Id bet anything Jokiharju has legit trade value though, he won't be a give away. Thats Lyubushkin |

What's confusing?
Did you really think our conservative management group was gonna go out and buy top free agents?
You know this group, you're smart enough to see some huge splash in july ?
They upgraded spots 4 and 5 on defense. Good moves imo. Slide joker to a bottom pair and they improved the 6 spot too.
Top 3 were set , now the bottom 7 are set. |

That they overloaded NHL and AHL D + G and haven't followed up by moving anyone out and what they have doesn't really fit together well.

If they go lefty - righty on the defense pairs, one of the top 3 you mentioned will be on the third pair. |

Be funny if Adams has to use a asset to trade a contract. |

It's only July though, and the puck doesnt drop until october 12th.
You really think Adam's doesnt have a plan?
Fortunately the Sabres have all of the important spots already filled. First and second line centers , 2 1oa defenseman.
This team is set , just needs to tweak the lineup. |

If they won't eat any salary, they just might have to give up an asset.
However I do think a lot of the league is in a holding pattern awaiting the Hockey Canada investigation. Only because of some of the names on that team. Carter Hart for one. |

Well I am not a GM. But with what and where the Sabres started this off-season I would hope I wasn't in that position this early in the off-season. Especially with as hard it is to make moves this year. |
