His plan is to set the lowest expectations possible that way rubes don't care when he barely clears them

Hilariously he managed to screw that up last year with them exceeding it just enough to reel fans back in and have them expecting something.

Going to be even funnier when they completely misjudge how upset people will be if they screw it up next year.

He's been working incredibly hard the past two years, as he's shared in the media, to make sure UPL doesn't feel like a jilted lover, and show that they still love him.

Dinner being the most recent example.

That goes hand in hand with how hard did they really try on some things, which dovetails into they weren't really interested in making the moves they didn't put a lot of effort into.

You'll be the biggest bandwagon guy on here.

The team has all of the important positions already filled.

Top 3 defenseman will play 75 -80 minutes
You got a top nhl line
Center depth.

A goalie phenom prospect.

You guys are miserable rubes

Adams cares, which is why he makes it clear in every interview and press conference how many meetings, hours put in, and phone calls happen

It'll be double or more per gram than what is available at the res. I expect to see most of these fail.

Thought about this a bit and while I dont question his commitment to his job, I think he's also got his next one in mind as well.

He wasn't anywhere close to the line for "next wave of GMs". So really his whole tenure here is one long audition to get him into that inner circle.

A huge chunk of first time GMs end up being one and done because theyre remembered for something they did (presumably wrong).

Anything from a big trade going sideways, a signing that never lived up to the hype, or in one special case, comparing a top six forward to a lizard and how far they stick their tongue out.

And these are first timers who were in line for a GM job.

Adams next job is President, it seems pretty clear to me that its the succession plan for him.

Good post

Adam's has done a phenomenal job managing generally so far, next step keeps the group together with promotions across the board.

I'd be concerned about losing the guys responsible for the excellent drafting. Move everyone up a notch.

He’s done really well in 3 areas (so far)

Trading off Eichel/Reinhart and Risto

Drafting (so far)

Making gambles on Thompson/Cozens/Sammy

He’s done pretty awful at

Adding NHL talent to the roster via trade

UFA signings

Weaponizing cap space

Insulation of the goalie position

Overall it’s an average tenure so far. There’s food and bad

How hard is it to draft top 10-15 every season?

Outside of that, what player other than JJ has Adams and his staff drafted that has impacted the Sabres?

we are hoping and assuming he is drafting decent

I do not count power

he also had tage on the trade block for a 5th round pick

average so far IMO and you need to be better than that in a small market

Absolutely agree, good post

I think its important to weigh the pros and cons, the negatives seem less important.

Locking up core players to team friendly deals outweighs the awful.

I really like both signings, helps pk and adds another guy with a ring.

It's hard to upgrade this team. The captains clearly add something important to the organization that fans dont understand. (36)

Power would be 1 guy. Quinn looks to be an excellent pick as well.

Its hockey not football, it takes time for guys to acclimate.

How about the tuch trade..... let's (frank)ing go...

Well if the Bruins drafted literally anyone else in 2015 other than Debrusk, Zboril, Sensheyen they would have won the last 4 cups.

That didn’t answer my question- Adams traded away an elite 1C to get Tuch a hockey trade where Adams gets the worse end isn’t a home run trade.
