I have no problem with him as a person or a player.

The problem is, there is a salary cap and we need that 11 AAV more than we need Tavares at this particular stage of the game.

Can you get a RW for less than $7M is the question? Because even though Nylander wants $10M, his Cap hit this season is still only $6.9 so there's that.

The best moves to me would be:

1. Nylander trade.
2. Murray trade/dump.
3. Brodie and Robertson trade.

Money out = ~$17.5M

Pretty sure with Nylander, Brodie and Robertson and $17M in Cap relief the Leafs could easily find a dance partner and get a RHD with snarl and a RW that won't cost more than $10m and might actually hit and play a little defense.


If the Leafs could do a deal for Trochek and Schneider for a total cap hit of $6.5m, hell ya.
