DeAngelo on unconditional waivers. Is this how Carolina is getting him? I thought it was supposed to be a trade. Did he do something for contract termination? |

A top 4 of Pettersson-Letang and Graves-Karlsson does sound really damn good. Even if POJ is part of the EK deal, a Smith-Ruutta 3rd pairing *should* be a solid d-line.
However, if Eller is the new 3rd C, there needs to be another low key move to get another winger for him and not just praying one of the 4th line guys they signed can step up |

Could be mutual if the trade fell through. *forgot they just had an arb case settled.* |

If Carolina ends up getting him for cheap they’re not gonna go away from the EK situation. Hate this for us. |

The only thing that is going to give us an advantage over Carolina is EK himself saying he will only come here. Carolina can move Pesce and use those picks to add to an EK trade. |

I mean if Tony D goes there is EK really gonna wanna go there? I'm guessing no. Apparently EK is leaning towards the Pens anyways. |

If Carolina truly offered what they offered already then EK ain't going to Carolina. |

I hope so. I wonder what fell through in our early talks with SJ... |

I’d have to assume it was the cap issue. Not getting rid of contracts like Petry/Granlund in the trade or SJ not retaining enough.
I have no problem with POJ, Smith, and/or Pickering being a part of the deal. Even the rumored “2 1st round picks” as long as there are conditions based on EKs health, lottery protected, or reaching the SCF

Here is my take on the NHL Gm's They for the most part are not very bright/
I think that the cap should be like it is for the next few years..........Why It will make the GM's actually do their freaking job and get some value and production from the players. Players think that the jackpot is at the end of the rainbow if they have a good year. Prove it instead of having what I call FWS FAT WALLET SYNDROME. Make the GM's prove their worth instead of just passing out money to undeserving players.
I call it Earning your keep, not inflating it and just cruising along. It is easy to spend someone else's money. The government proves that to be a true statement. This should be the motto of all sports instead of just giving money away for nothing. |

This is what I saw by a few on twitter. Friedman was talking about it too. SJ won't go over 20% retention and that means a 3rd team would need to get involved. No matter what SJ will need to take back a contract though. Every team trading for Karlsson needs to send at least one player back. |

Why would the cap stay flat for more years if the players have paid off their debt by the end of next season? The whole situation was dumb to begin with…the NHL could have consolidated all of that as a league and locked in a crazy low interest rate back in 2020, PIK it for the first season or two while revenues / cash flow was low, but then depending on the term, could’ve been a minimal expense for each team every year. They decided to screw about everyone involved instead.

Well I'm kinda going off of what was rumored to be offered from Carolina to SJ. If that was true then EK declined the trade. I agree with you on Rossi haha. |

At the very least, there is going to be some movement of players soon for the pens. They just signed Gruden which puts them at 48/50 contracts with DOC and Ty Smith still to sign. |

I hope so. Been a pretty boring offseason so far. Smith and Graves were nice, but we need a splash move. |

I see Smith as being no more/less than Zucker. Graves has been the only upgrade at this point but not nearly enough to make the team a contender |

He will never get a shot. Sullivan already has the lines written down. No changes to be made barring injury. Then you call up a top line AHL player and play him 4 minutes on the 4th line. |

Smith is better at scoring off the rush. Zuck was better at puck retrieval and goals around the net.
Depends on what type of team Sully wants to form. |

Still a long ways to go but i think it’s been pretty entertaining so far beyond the standard draft and July 1st frenzy.
Front office fired
New poho
New gm maybe
A whole new bottom 6 to gripe over
Jarry contract to rile the masses
This whole ek talk has occupied us for about a week so far
Actually having a 1st rounder on draft day
I’d say this is one of our more entertaining off seasons

This is fair. Since the Hextall fire there has been plenty of newsworthy events. But once the EK rumors started coming out I have been waiting for the big splash. The new checking line was a nice touch, but still need to figure out the other bottom 6 line. |
