I'd also like to see him get 1000 points so hope Phil gets to play. I wonder if the iron man streak is a hindrance since at this point a coach may want to sit him some.
- Tojo.

I don't know if that would be a hindrance. Its a very special achievement/record IMO.

hahah take it easy, Feds. If you go back about 6 comments you'll see me say:

"I'm not really arguing that he should be...just bringing up some talking points. I lean towards him never getting in.

- MattStrat

Fair enough. Seemed like you were making a case for him

I hate how much modern sports have dumb down the Hall of Fame for their respective sports. Feels like good to great players get in easily when in reality only the top of the top should.

No way in hell Carter is HOF material. That isnt an insult. Its possible to be a hell of player but fell short of the hall of fame.

I think Letang has had a better career than Letang and Im not sure I consider Letang HOF material.

I agree with you. I don't think Zetterberg is necessarily HOF material either but try telling that to DET fans.

And I would put Zetterberg in over Carter.

what would the pens realistically be willing to give up to trade Carter do you think?
- hello it's me 2050

Where would Carter realistically wave his full no movement clause to go to? Especially at this point in the off-season.

With it being the last bad contract we have it's all we can talk about movement wise haha. If Carter was making like 1.5 mil he wouldn't be an issue. It would be more like Matt Cullen 4c who we all loved, Cullen was at like 1mil. So it's truly Hextalls fault. All we can hope for is LTIR or for Carter to play good.

You can also blame Rutherford for JJ, 900+k buyout.

You can also blame him for those two cups under his tenure. What a bum.

You're one of those? Just because Rutherford did a good job getting us two cups doesn't mean we can't complain about a (frank) up that is still affecting us right now.

Edit: Hextall sucked ass but I will not take away the good of the Rakell trade and signing.

Look, we love GMJR for the cups and giving the core what they deserved, but he also salted the earth in a random spree afterwards to try and do it again, which left us broken. No one is taking those two cups he helped us get for granted.

JR was great. He’s a hall of famer. His brain also broke after the second cup and he absolutely needed to be shown the door.

Instead of seeing how good that 18 team did after two cup runs, he saw it as a failure. Tried too hard to counter what the caps had instead of running it back with better depth.

Yea I mean we lost to the cup champ in the second round. Now, let's not forget that Murray completely imploded though and that also played a role in the decline.

The year after wasn’t bad. Hate the Reaves move but the Brassard trade was good on paper it just didn’t work out in practice. It’s the years that followed where the long lasting damage started to take place.

Yes we're talking about the 19 season, in 18 is when Murray's dad passed away and Jarry started playing games. Murray was not right after his dad passed and that was part of the decline as well as Rutherford's dumb moves.

So I just heard that Matt Vensel interviewed Carter and he basically said they owe me 3mil and I'll be here weather they like it or not. So basically the only way we get relief is a season ending injury.

He really (frank)ed up a good bit of things. The defense rebuild didn't work, the Carter extension was dumb, keeping Desmith as a the backup was hextarded, the Granlund trade was completely unacceptable. Rakell trade and signing is definitely his only high, the Carter trade was good, and snagging Friedman off waivers was cool. He did sign Geno and Tanger to good contracts and Rust was solid as well.
