I would think all GM's consult coaches first before making any move. The hate for Torts is pathetic.
Is this MJL? - WhiskeyMan
Think is just a case of, we realize that Torts has a shelf life usually less than 4 years before he moves on. Personally I would be good with this being his last year and making a coaching hire based on younger coaches who might be available. I would not be hiring the same ole retreads that pass thru the NHL we need to find a coach who coaches todays hockey(speed & skill) not the same old grinding dump and chase bs. |

No but this is MJL. You didn't comprehend what he posted. I actually find those that have the wool pulled over their eyes concerning Tortorella, pathetic but to each their own. |

Also you remember a goalie Jakub Kovar from the 2006 draft. Any backstory on why he never came over and gave it a go? Thanks. - hello it's me 2050
Looks like he battled chronic knee issues for awhile early in his career and didn't really blossom until 2011-12, after the Flyers had lost his rights. |

Cue the female dogging and "trade AHL player Frost" bullsheet from jd250 in 3 - 2 - 1.....

- LetterKenny
Such hostility! Hey, if you want to pay this ridiculous amount for Frost, it's a good thing you don't have a say ... |

Frost should get a 2-3 year deal at somewhere around 3-3.5M a year. - MJL

The only one will be embarrassed here is you when indeed Frost signs a 1 year bridge deal at Cates money or is traded. |

It's embarrassing for Briere that he apparently doesn't get to sign player contracts without having to defer to the opinions of a geriatric coach on his way out of the league, and a goofball color commentator masquerading as President of Hockey Ops. - Feanor
But let's look at the players Torts had a problem with in his first year. Hayes, DeAngelo, Frost and Sanheim. Seems like the right list to me. Frost at least responded and played better the 2nd half of the season, but the other 3 are are would be addition by subtraction for sure. |

If I was Briere I would do a 1 year at 3m and tell him to show me what he has this season if he wants a longer-term contract to earn with his play.
He is one of our top 3 centers so calling him AHL player is moronic. He had a rough start his first few years, but you can't give up on a player until you have an idea what his ceiling will be. Right now, we don't know how good a player he can be until he gets more experience. Personally, I project him as a 3rd line center, with some ability to move up the line up in case of injuries.
If the Wild would offer up a decent package of prospects and picks I would listen, as they have a good prospect pool atm. |

Bookmarked. Would this be similar to how I was embarrassed when Boston traded for Hayes?
You would also have to produce the comment where I said Frost won't sign a one year deal. |

Sanheim would not be addition by subtraction. He has been one of the team's best defenseman over the last few years. When the rest of the team's defense core is made up of stiffs like Ristolainen, Walker and Staal. There is no surplus of talented puck moving defenseman on this team. |

Frost, TK, and Sanheim all had some issues during the season and all responded with better play down the stretch of last season. Not sure what you were watching last year, but those 3 along with Cates & Tippett & York all responded with better play. |

Ersson extended even though he did not need to be. Bonk just signed a 3 year ELC even though there was also no rush to do so. Yet Frost is still unsigned. This should be a concern whether you accept it or not. |

I don't believe Torts had a big problem with York, TK or Tippet. With York and Tippet especially, it was just normal development hurdles. With TK, they got on the same page very quickly. However with Hayes and DeAngelo the relationship quickly spiraled down and could not be repaired. Not sure about Sanheim. |

What I am curious about this year is Farabee, and how he will respond to his buddy not being around to protect him and console him. Personally I thought Farabee played timid the whole season, and I started counting about 10 games in how many times his weak play on the ice led to a goal against. To me he was the worst forward we had last playing a 200ft game. Seemed like if he didn't get the puck he kind of gave up on most plays and just cherry picked looking for a shot that never came.
To me this a make-or-break season for Farabee, if he plays the same lackluster way, he did last season then he is TDL move. |

His legacy in Philadelphia will be banning iPads, and letting random guys coach the team when he doesn't care. |

Your post doesn't allude in any way to the major injury that Farabee suffered and probably came back too soon from. It takes time to build your strength back up after an injury like that. The comment of his buddy being around to protect him and console him, is silly. |
