One of Laf or Othmann isn't moving to the right side. I assumed Othmann will be the odd man out. Assume Kakko, Wheeler, and Goodrow all locked down spots. Laf might move. Vesey can play the right side.

Thanks for the blog Jan. Great write up as usual!

I am excited for camp. It would be great if Laf could make the switch without it impacting his game to much. Not overly optimistic that it will happen, though. Ohtmann I hope gets his nine game look. I am super excited about him, but I am also trying not set expectations to high as I have done in the past with prior rookies.

Lots of people on Twitter questioning this cores heart and will to win. This season should be quite telling under a new coach that should light a fire under their asses and hold them all accountable.

Who does everyone think is this years X factor for us? I'm going with Chytil. He got his contract, now he needs to take the next step in his career. Get better on faceoffs and less streakiness to his offensive game

They need to get him to adapt to the right side. Starting now makes sense so that he can carry that forward into Hartford, irrespective of making the team out of camp

the 9 game look for Othmann doesn't apply here, they can just send him up and down to Hartford as much as they like

I think Chytil ends up as the 2C at some point during the season

Goodrow does not need to be a rw

Oh I love the idea of Othmann moving to RW. It just won't be happening at the NHL level right away. Just not a spot for him to do it, in my opinion.

I mean I assume he won't the 4th line center either as Bonino should be in that spot. So what other spot is available for Goodrow.

Interesting. That's even better. Hopefully he forces his way onto the roster then

I do, too. I think his game is better suited as the 2C and Trocheck as the 3C. Tro can help build a strong identity to that third line.

Rangers twitter or X, is so annoying

every tweet they are putting out the comments are "announce Kane, announce Kane"

I think Kane is going to surprise a lot of people this year, for whatever that's worth

Where do you think he ends up? I was seeing DET & back to NYR as the two most likely

Well DET is the only one with some rumors out there, so I'd lean that way. Especially since he loved playing with DeBrincat. But those are the only two options I'd probably think had a real shot. Obviously possible he comes out of left field with a different choice.

I have a hard time believing he'll take a 1 year deal for 750K, so I assume that leaves the Rangers out

Unless they make the deal bonus laden, which is feasible because he is over 35 and it hit next year's camp I believe. But I still think chances are highly remote

If they wait to sign him until during the season how would that impact the cap number etc?

Believe the cap number goes "up" if he signs during the season, depending on how long he waits. When Nylander held out until December his cap hit was higher than the actual AAV of the contract. His AAV was $6.9M but his cap hit for the first year of the deal (when he held out) was $10.2M

could end up (frank)ing the team in 2024-25 like the Bruins are (frank)ed this year with Bergeron overage

Idk what that means? I assume Pitlick will be the 13th forward if they carry one, or 4th line LW? Idk.

Pitlick would come out if someone like othmann makes the roster. Goodrow goes to the 4th line wing. Not sure how else to describe it
