if Pearson is only worth a 7th round pick at the most, then I don't think it was such a great move to acquire him in the DeSmith trade... - Pat1993
What we acquired Pat was the 3rd round pick.
Taking Pearson in the process was the way to make it happen.

is the 3rd round pick worth that trouble though? might as well either wait for a better offer, or settle for a 5th round pick instead or something.

may I remind you that Primeau, who everyone here is so afraid to lose on waivers, was a 7th round pick. |

How is taking Pearson trouble?
We can still fit Price under the cap to begin the season (which will give us MASSIVE flexibility on the cap during the season to make more moves), we get a veteran player that's not going to be any trouble and at worst he goes in the AHL.
If somehow we also get something for him in the end, that's just the cherry on the top on a series of great moves.

sure, and Gallagher was a 5th-round pick, but you can't base your decisions on such exceptions.

Just seems to me like we took one area that had too many players (goalie) and added too many players to an already crowded area (forward), after we got rid of Hoffman and Pitlick in the off season to create space.
I'd rather see kids in the line up, personally. |

And if they did not have to use that cap space now, they would have ridiculous space at the trade DL to extract something really good to make deals happen.
I do not have an issue with Pearson. he is just not needed on a rebuilding team.

I was under the impression that his salary might have been an issue cap-wise but if you're saying that Pearson doesn't have any impact on this then I guess it's fine... but the "TDL flip" thingy doesn't sound as interesting now lol.
