to get the pick and trade Desmith, yes, cause it just happened

I dont think Hughes wanted Pearson in a bad way, but he had to be a part of the deal

and he knows and might be able to trade him around TDL

so yeah

- deadpoulet

I think it's probably because the goalie market is a bit saturated, and Hughes didn't want to wait too long to make that trade, he could've avoided getting Pearson but chose to pull the trigger now, which isn't a horrible move imho.

Pretty sure Pearson is heading towards Laval and or will be use on the 4th line or in the god damn stands

cant see him taking a rookie spot, spots that are not there to begin with

other than maybe RHP, rookies should not play on the 4th, even less in the stands

the guy im not sure what will they do with, is Ylonen

I doubt a 3.25M contract is heading straight to Laval.

I mean, just the pick would have been good, but Pearson (who could have a good season and be flipped at the tdl for an other pick)... really excellent

Frustrating.

Just when they clear up forward space by sending Pitlick and Hoffman away, they go and crowd everything up again with this trade.

Sure, nice to get another pick, but unless something else is on the horizon, this does not make sense - cap wise or roster wise.

it's surely a TDL flip gamble.

yeah, that's the down side, it closes a spot for a kid.
but there was no spot to begin with... so it's not that terrible lol

I'd rather gamble with a kid in the line up, like Heineman or a Laval kid like Ylonen.

agreed, but turning a backup goalie into a 3rd and possibly another pick... not bad

that sounds like a horrible strategy, they'll at least give him a chance to see if he has anything left in the tank and if he's able to stay healthy they'll trade him at the TDL.

the habs should care about the price tag lol.

Heineman does not make sense on the 4th line, same as Ylonen

he's not taking their spots

they dont have spots in mtl

You also risk not having a goalie in Laval.
