There's ample evidence, despite how some people feel about Briere, that the main qualification to become GM was being an ex-flyer, a popular one at that. Not his acumen at roster building or managing players. Much like Fletcher, he knows the right people.

Briere was a fan favorite, like Jones, Lappy, etc. He really should've gotten some experience outside of the Comcast umbrella before being considered.

I would have had no issue with Briere as GM had he been in control and the one making the decisions. Having a 3 headed monster is flat out doomed for failure.

When you heard/read about the peeps who interviewed for the president role then withdrew that was a huge red flag.

Darche and Danny are good friends who chatted frequently. He would have been a good add. Did they even reach out? Did he decline?

So if one defenseman gets hurt, the Flyers would just go with five defensemen despite Ghost? Anyone who played in the top six had a hand in keeping Ghost out. It’s simple. If Ghost played bad, it means the other defensemen were playing better. Including an experienced rookie who could be pulled at anytime.
