Who? Definitely not fans on this message board - SuperSchennBros
MJL seemed to realize Myers was iffy. If memory serves, his initial reaction to the trade was why were they getting him so cheap. That aged pretty well. Myers had potential just like everyone in the AHL. Few outside of Philly viewed him more than a borderline NHLer.

any bedard level talent in the upcoming draft? - 2Real
Bedard level? No, but there are 2, maybe 3 impact forwards and 2 or 3 Dmen with legit #1 potential. |

Im sad sometimes because there are some in the fanbase who dont realize how good Couturier has been (when he plays). Its not just the points, its how he drags everyone who plays with him up a substantial level in their games.
When you make everyone around you noticeably better, that is a big sign you are a great player. And Coots is a GREAT hockey player.
Part of me is nervous because if Coots plays like he is capable of playing this season, the Flyers WILL be better. He almost hurts them by being himself lol. - MBFlyerfan
For the record I love Couturier, he's my favorite Flyer by a wide margin. Got a 2017 Couturier Winter Classic jersey back before his offensive breakout when some fans were putting him in trade proposals. What's the best case for Couturier this season? To struggle long enough with rust to keep the team bad, but begin to regain form late in the season? |

I’d have been pulling for Myers if I was a Flyer fan. You always want prospects to surprise and do well. No one knew Ellis was damaged at the time. Many were saying the Preds got hosed. There had to be more to the story at the time and now everyone knows.

Cliff knew he was damaged.
I liked myers as well. Then it became clear he wasn't good. Just go back and re-read what AV said about him numerous times.

Bill, any word on whether Recchi being named an assistant coach with Columbus affects his Flyers HOF ceremony? Columbus is on a western road trip that week/weekend. Also, Columbus visits Philly on January 4th. |

I can see an argument against Myers his final season. I believe he was scratched a few times and demoted to the third pair next to Morin. Aside from that, Myers had a good 50 game season his second year, including playoffs. |

Yes, he had a very good 19-20 season paired with Sanheim, and most thought that would be the Flyers' long term 2nd pairing at the time. The wheels came completely off in 20-21, and he stunk thereafter. |

This is exactly what I’m saying. At that point in time, I don’t think anyone was saying otherwise. It was only after the fact (meaning now) people are saying “I always knew he stunk”. |

Ellis was always a risk for injuries most of his career. I absolutely had my concerns in regards to Ellis’ health. In terms of what was going the other way, I don’t remember anyone knocking Myers in the trade. It was Patrick fans were dying to get rid of. |

Myers was viewed as a nothing throw in and certain flyers fans thought the preds were going to fix him haha |

You stated that you knew Myers wasn’t any good during our last playoff run when…
A) Ghost couldn’t get a spot in the line up.
B) Niskanen’s play was night and day from what he established in the regular season.
C) Myers first ever playoff run taking a regular shift next to Sanheim on the second pair, where the Flyers managed to lose in the semi final, which included a seeding round.
If Myers was clearly bad in 2020, the coaching staff didn’t catch it. - SuperSchennBros
not precisely. it is when i started to question his hockey iq.
if you remember the first round, they were lucky to win. |

He'll be there for the HOF game on the 26th and his induction on the 27th. He'll miss a flight out west and one game. Has permission from the Blue Jackets, as the commitment was already made before he was hired.

Half a season of hockey does not equate to someone being a good player forever - ClaudeFather
lmao his argument is that we didn't question myers hockey IQ back then. what a joke. and guessing he wouldn't remember, it was mostly tomahawk that i had the conversations with. |

Well, I guess my advice to you today, being daytime and sober, would be this:
Who cares?
People are bad enough in person, let alone on anonymous message boards. Took me far too long with far too much aggravation to realize this. This board in particular is pure toxic sludge most days. |

It’s a small sample size though. He didn’t have much pressure because Nisky and Provorov were so good that year.

Can we please get off the Myers discussion. Why the F are we bringing it up? I was a big Myers fan and now he isn't even in the NHL. Let's move on to the current roster and prospects. A lot of people seem to be down on Attard, I am anxious to see if he shuts everyone up.

Well yeah, not much different from any young player trying to transition in the NHL but either you can hack it or you can’t. We know today that it hasn’t worked out but 4 goals, 12 assist, a plus 17 in 50 games on a second pair is a good season for a 22 year old rookie. |
