say it all you want....you are wrong. - Peter Richards
Feel free to present advanced. If you were saying it on these boards, it has to be written down somewhere. I flat out don’t believe you. Myers was basically keep Ghost out of the line up in the playoffs. |

Can we please get off the Myers discussion. Why the F are we bringing it up? I was a big Myers fan and now he isn't even in the NHL. Let's move on to the current roster and prospects. A lot of people seem to be down on Attard, I am anxious to see if he shuts everyone up. - WhiskeyMan
Sorry. Attard won’t shut anyone up. I saw him enough at WM to know he’ll never learn to play defense.

Well, I guess my advice to you today, being daytime and sober, would be this:
Who cares?
People are bad enough in person, let alone on anonymous message boards. Took me far too long with far too much aggravation to realize this. This board in particular is pure toxic sludge most days. - Quetzalcoatl
It’s just amazing to me what people choose to remember. |

Just wanted to start another conversation and get off of Myers.
What prospect are we excited to see tonight?
Will Errson shut the Islanders down?

Well yeah, not much different from any young player trying to transition in the NHL but either you can hack it or you can’t. We know today that it hasn’t worked out but 4 goals, 12 assist, a plus 17 in 50 games on a second pair is a good season for a 22 year old rookie. - SuperSchennBros
Exactly. Nisky is a good example of this. He had a great rookie season playing alongside Zubov. Zubov retired and Nisky was hot garbage for the next 3 years. He didn’t get fixed until he got to the Pens.

I’m super excited about Michkov coming to North America. Think I’ll watch more Flyer hockey then.

He wouldn’t be alone in that regard in the NHL. The real question is whether or not his offensive skills will translate well enough to the NHL for a team to overlook his defensive deficiencies. |

Ronnie Attard playing tonight. Its put up or shut up time for him. He's 24. - Flybynight88
Doesn't look like Ross Johnston is in the lineup tonight.... Attard will actually have to make the lineup thru merit this time around.

There’s a place for him in the NHL if he can resemble Erik Gustafsson. |

Was never an Attard fan but at least it was a swing by the Flyers FO. God knows they've made far worse 3rd-round picks over the years. |

Oh, come on. Tyrell Goulbourne was a swing. OK, maybe more of check swing. Ok, maybe more of a fouled bunt into a strikeout. |

Flyers took Garret Klotz instead of
Evgeny Dadonov
Alexander Killorn
Alec Martinez
Jamie Benn
Jake Muzzin
Carl Hagelin
Nick Bonino
Justin Braun
We even took Maroon in that draft and gave him away

Pay attention to something you supposedly said 3 years ago? I said in detail why I don’t believe you. This sort of response isn’t helping your case. |

That shot. I saw him blast one by the goalie from just outside the blue line that the goalie never saw. Too bad it was offside.

Almost all of those players you’ve listed have lived up to expectations 😂 - ClaudeFather
Really? Cates, Farabee, Hart, York and Frost are not completely developed players. Provorov did not live up to the expectations of a top 10 pick. JVR did not live up the expectations of a 2nd overall pick.

Provorov met expectations, he was never going to be a true #1, he was very solid when paired with a capable partner. Frost and Alison both lost significant time due to injury. Laughton had certainly met expectations, I’d say he’s exceeded them. Goalies are not great examples. And no one expected JVR to be a perennial all star, he has met expectations too, has had a nice career - ClaudeFather
When you draft a defenseman 7th overall, the expectation is that he will be a #1 defenseman. All scouting reports and hype portrayed that.
You expect a player selected 2nd overall to be an all star.

Fantasy land. Agreed the other guys have time to go. Provy and JVR certainly reached expectations. Just because you’re a #2 pick doesn’t mean you’re gonna to be an elite star. Just look at the list from the last ten years, there’s a ton of guys like him or worse. And at the draft it was well known there was a huge drop off after Kane |

Good post.
The problem though with simply reviewing stats instead of watching the games (The Athletic, not you) is that we DID see Couturier get some chances higher in the lineup at times due to injuries and poor play of the top lines and he just didn't do much with it. Now, did Hakstol sit on him at 3C/low PP usage maybe a season or so too long? Yes, probably. - Quetzalcoatl
That's simply false. The Flyers had a stacked #1 PP unit for most of Couturier's early career with Giroux/Vroacek/Simmonds/Schenn. Couturier's PP time was mop up duty with late minutes on the PP. At 5 on 5, as a 3rd line center, tasked with matching up against a lot of top lines. He scored at a high rate at 5 on 5 based on minutes and deployment. His 5 on 5 scoring rate was 2nd line level. The signs were there the entire time that if deployed differently. He could produce more points. Which turned out to be correct.
