Hopefully Benoit can impress enough to make the big club.

With Lilly’s poop end of season play, and Timmins being hurt, they need someone like Benoit to grab a roster spot.

"There is no indication yet on whether the Timmins injury will result on him going on LTIR, but the Leafs are already at or above the limit for burying money there with Matt Murray and Jake Muzzin out for the season."

Limit?

There is no limit to Robidas/Lupul island.

If Klingberg remains day to day both Liljegren and Benoit will make the club so they have 6 d men.

I think the Tree likes him but assuming Timmins get LTIR'd they still have some juggling to do - specifically they need to find about $150k in room.

Benoit (7th D) or Gregor (12th F) .....one in and one out ...unless there's a trade or another LTIR.

Do you go with 11F (one of them being Reaves) and carry 7 D? Probably if Klingberg is still banged up.

At this point a Jarnkrok trade to create some wiggle room/depth might not be a bad thing.

Maybe but 11/7 may make it tougher for Nickie to make the team and means that both Benoit and Kokkonen are on the roster. Keefe did say that Koko has been the biggest surprise in camp.

Keefe also really, really likes Jarnkrok.

Drop Lafferty. With Timmins hurt just drop Robertson, Lafferty, and Jones and the leafs will end up with 12 F, 7 D, 2 G for about $200K under the cap. Leaving the trick to sort out what to do when Timmins gets better.

I assume Nickie has to start in the AHL (unless more LTIR's).

7D wouldn't include Kokkonen. Rielly, Brodie, McCabe, Lilly, Klingberg, Gio, Benoit.

That's possible ....Lafferty out and replaced by Robertson or Holmberg would save enough.

I kinda like Lafferty though. Our PK gets pretty thin without him.

Back to back shutouts (against) has to be a pretty good bet, no? Minny's got some great arms, Jays have quiet bats.

I'd throw $20 on that.

Agreed. I thought you were talking about a no-Klinberg scenario

You save just as much by replacing Timmins with Benoit as you do replacing Lafferty. If I had to choose, I’d keep Lafferty.
