Eklund: Is Auston Matthews Capable of Scoring 100? - Eklund
"Last year, in my Whacky Predictions (This season’s Whacky Predictions blog come out tomorrow) I predicted Matthews would score 70…Injuries are the only reason he fell short…"
he scored 40 goals in 74 games last year
so he would have had 30 goals in the other 8 games?
interesting |

The guy who averages 93 points per 82 games played? His best GPG is .82, seems reasonable to think it'll jump to 1.22 based on two games. He might score 200 if he can keep this up. I know this is click bait but STFU with this kind of nonsense. He's not even the best player in the NHL. |

Is Toronto capable of winning a cup?
No. |
|
|
|
Hopefully Matthews record in golf ⛳️ is under 💯 |
|
|
|
Would be fun if he did but not going to happen.
60-70 is more plausible if healthy and plays at least 75 games |
|
|
|
2018-19 AM averaged .544 GPG
2019-20 AM averaged 0.67 GPG
2020-21 AM averaged 0.79 GPG
2021-22 AM averaged 0.82 GPG
statistically he has dressed for 90% of regular season games played since his debut season. So we have no reason to expect anything different this season. He should be expected to dress for 73-74 games.
He should be expected to score a minimum of 57 goals

Is Matthews playing half his games against the Wild and half against the Habs?

Wayne the train 🚆 has 92. More realistic. But 💯 more tabloid |
|
|
|
Well, he's not capable of playoff success... |

It'll happen long before Philly sniffs another Cup.
Philly : exactly zero elite level players, and it shows.
With Giroux gone, can anyone even name Philly's best player? Can anyone even name one of their starters? It's a roster full of has-beens and never-was'es. Poor Carter (frank)ing Hart. Guy is a decent goalie and is saddled with that parade of fail in front of him. Come back and talk trash when you have something other than butthurt.
Edit : the league should make Philly surrender the rights to Gritty. You losers don't deserve him.

I can't get over the claim that if he didn't get hurt last year my whacky prediction of 70 goals might have come true.
He missed 8 games.
And was 30 goals shy of that prediction.
Sounds like someone plugged in the Buzztron for that math.

Imagine living in a world where people think Connor McDavid is a better player. Auston Matthews is the most dominant goal scorer in NHL history. There is zero doubt in my mind that at retirement, he will have over 1000 goals. He's on pace to surpass that. |

He played the entire season with 1 wrist.
So I'd say getting 40 was pretty impressive, considering. |
