thanks Karine

If it was up to me, I’d give him the game in Buffalo, far from the Bell Centre boo birds who can be a lot to handle for younger players when things aren’t going their way.

I agree with you on giving Primeau the game in BUF because he needs to play at some point, but do you really think fans at the Bell would boo him if he didn't have a good game? even if I don't condone it I sort of understand why some people would boo a guy like Connor Bedard when he's town, but I find fans actually booing a young goalie playing for their own team would be utterly pathetic.

Mtl needs the win against Buffalo more, they are in mtl division, not NJ. You also give the rookie the end of a back to back games, as mtl is more likely to lose that game than the first one. That would be an easy call for me, but chickens do not coach at the NHL level.

the habs wouldn't be getting a whole lot in return, Allen is probably worth more to the habs than what he could fetch in a trade.

You liked that 2nd line, but whats your take so far with Newhook down the middle?

As much as I like Monahan, he is not the future of this team and is probably gone around the TDL. But he helps that team, a lot...

so you're basically setting up your rookie goalie for a loss? not sure that's the best of strategies to be honest.

Agree, unless they are desperate for the cap space or the spot.

They cant work with 3 goalies all year long either. Something needs to happen in a month or so. Primeau needs to play, if not in the NHL, in the AHL.

Trading Allen after a few good games could be the thing to do. Montembault will have to step up.

Unless they give up on Primeau, that is.

Still think Primeau gets the Columbus game on Thursday.

this is not the AHL, you play to win

you dont have to agree but this is what I would do. You play the odds.

You cant end up with 0 points out of 4 cause you want to protect your goalie.

exactly, and so an NHL coach would make plans to win both games, he wouldn't be considering one as a loss in advance.

but I get what you're saying, there is a certain logic to it.

personally I don't really care which game they choose to put him in, as long as he plays. hopefully he won't be too rusty, it isn't ideal for optimal performances as a young goalie to be playing so rarely.

not saying its a loss in advance, I said you play the odds. Not the same thing at all.

but like the wise Mashadar pointed out, with so many games in so few days, they could give another game to Primeau instead this week. That could work too.

I dunno, hockey in general can be very unpredictable in itself, and with a young team going through a rebuild there are even fewer guarantees, so the "odds" aren't worth a whole lot to be basing a decision on them imho.

I find giving your rookie goalie the best chance possible with a well-rested team in front of him for the first game and then putting your veteran in the night after to potentially make up for mistakes made by a tired team is as good a strategy in terms of odds.
