Well given a 41 game suspension on Pinto, not sure any team is wasting assets not even 10 games into the season, let alone in a 3 team dance of juggling player salaries and cap restraints. |

Its a great point…for sure a factor. As I tried to say I think teams have of course discussed him, but Ottawa really doesn’t want to move him from what I understand

Agree there. Discussions sure. Its an interesting twist there though. Cant see teams engaging with him sitting out that much. And to think that punishment was worked out by the PA too, so not going to be appealed. Dont think Ottawa was wanting to move him BUT also curious was reported all contract offers were rescinded from him too. This is something to watch, just think any trade talks just got kiboshed. |

I can’t imagine Andlauer allowing Dorian to make any huge deals. Pierre is a nice fellow and all but come on the DeBrincat coming and going deals were disastrous for the Organization. I can see LAF going to Chicago for picks though. |

Rangers are in win now mode, they wont trade Laf for just picks, it will definitely be a top 6 roster player |

Top 6 players tend to take up a lot of cap space. What's Laf's cap hit? |

I highly doubt bedard suggested lafreniere. Davidson has talked about him before. |

Where is the actual rumor? Sounds like something made up from pure conjecture and past rumors. |

But it's from a "source", can't ignore it when it comes from a "source"..... |

Rangers could use some more size and snarl up front, but Lafreniere seems to be figuring it out under Laviolette, Housley, Pecca, Muse & their new skating coach. Playing with Panerin has obviously helped too. I don't see Laffy going anywhere. |

I don't see how any one of these teams need to be involved in a trade with each other.
The only thing the Blackhawks need to get out from under is maybe Seth Jones? He's been pretty mediocre since leaving Nashville all those years ago. He certainly doesn't earn his 9.5. Sens are starting to sour on Chabot and his 8.0 million and I think that deal gets late bonuses starting next year in actual cash? Like 10 mill?
Sens now short Pinto, Zub, Brannstrom. So I guess they could be looking to make a move. The move should start with firing the entire coaching staff. |

Chicago isn’t giving up any assets, If Chicago is going for any available player it’d be Conor Garland who they can get with an asset as a cap dump by Vancouver |

What's the actual rumor that was nailed down, let alone e4? Bedard likes LaFreniere despite never having played against him so there was discussion of Pinto going to Chicago? Ottawa needs to clear cap space to sign Pinto so they're going to trade Pinto to do it? You do understand that's the reason Ottawa was looking to clear up space, right? The Rangers want a shutdown D/PK guy and a 1st round pick so they really want to grab Pinto? Huh?? A 3-way deal in which each team gets Shane Pinto?
This may have one of the strangest posts ever on this site from the breathless talk of nailing down specifics of a really fun deal without ever talking about an actual deal to analysis of three team's needs each of which contradicted itself. |

What team would give up a top 6 player for a potential bust unless the Rags are taking salary back? |

Maybe Malkin now wants to go to the Hawks to "Be the Man" |

NYR needs a PK specialist so they don't have to use Fox so much, even though Trouba and Lindgren and Miller handle most of the PK duties and Fox spends less time on the PK than nearly every other premier d-man. |

Pretty sure the result from all of this is Pinto signs a cheap 1-year qualifying offer. So Ottawa can sit back, sign him after his suspension, and do so without any cap problems. Any notion of a long-term, monster deal is gone. And if Norris stays healthy, Ottawa could simply move on from Pinto and trade him. On a cheap qualifying contract there would be numerous teams that can fit him under their cap after his suspension. But those are just my views. If Ek has spent several hours on the phone digging into this then maybe Pinto goes to NYR or Chicago or stays in Ottawa. |

Yeah, that's the other confusing part. Ottawa fitting in Pinto was pretty much resolved yesterday morning. The league ordered Dorion to withdraw any previous offers and it's pretty clear Pinto was just going to sign his QO as soon as he was eligible to do so. This was all out in the open early yesterday. |

Hawks should just go ahead sign Patrick Kane and get him to play with the kid. |
