Again, if they're between a rock and a hard place, it's because they put themselves there. What do they want to do? Just be competitive and sell tickets? If things break right, maybe they make a single run. Or do they really want to win? I know the former is not enough for me anymore. If they put themselves in the right spot, in my way of thinking, the decision on a player like Frost and many future similar situations. Is an easy call. - MJL
I never suggested it wasn't of their own doing ... Just sayin'.

Exactly! Frost has a good contract and lots of potential upside. I really don't think Briere is in a bad place with Frost at all. Hayes is what he is and everyone knows it by now. - Phillywhiteout
he is on a bad spot as GM's probably have a feel that torts does not like him. As a younger player with some upside that hurts his value.
Maybe a team that likes Frost will pay the flyers asking price or close to it if/when he is moved. |

Uuummm, I think you are quoting the wrong player. I thought that was one of the Eagles running backs that said that? His name escapes me at the moment. Ricky Waters? I dunno... - Phillywhiteout
Yep, you are right lol

Hopefully the Flyers can keep rolling and building momentum. I know these are weak teams but I love the wins. |

This may be a dumb question and my apologies if it is...
Morgan Frost that's who Flyer fans want to get rid of ???
81 games last yr.. 46 pts for 1.5 mil or so a yr... 24 yrs old and a Center ...
If that is the case.. you are playing a team today that would be more than happy to take him off your hands for picks and prospects I would think. - dozerD10
No no no. The vast majority of us want to see him back on the ice.
Tortorella has an issue with Frost because that's what torts does, he plays mind games either his players.
Frost had a huge upside and tons of potential but it seems that every tike Frost makes a mistake or has a bad game he gets treated differently than every other player on the team does.
Frost I'd a vsey talented kid and is only scratching the surface of his potential.
I have mp doubt that many teams would like to have Frost and if Torts is going to continue to ruin this kids career then I'd like to see him get a chance to flourish elsewhere, even though I prefer to see him flourish here |

You seriously do t think teams would be interested if he went on the market? I would imagine multiple teams would be and from reports I. The past have been. |

So we are now at six straight games for Frost after playing two bad games, one of which the entire team was awful.
At this point if Briere hasn’t stepped in it is malfeasance. We are starting to see why the Flyers management kept him around as a protege. He won’t rock the boat and is yet another collaborator.
The Flyers love collaborators almost as much as they love stiffs that can’t play hockey like Deslauriers. |

It’s time to talk this out. The Flyers are creating a problem. It seems to me to be a result of flaws in development ideology. I have argued in the past in support of nearly every qualified 13th forward on the team. I see it as a valuable role for a deep team and to create a unified locker room.
Ideally, I see the 13th forward as a bottom-6 player, age 27 or older, who can play center or wing, decent at faceoffs, not a liability on defense and able to kill penalties in a pinch. Also, someone with leadership qualities, to make an impact even off the ice. In recent years, that would have been Corban Knight and Patrick Brown.
The Flyers have had numerous opportunities to grow one of these 13 F types from within, but just like with any 4th line slot, they chose not to develop role players. It must be tough for Flyers prospects to be identified as that type of player at the NHL level, knowing that they have a virtually nonexistent track record of making it in this organization. Laughton is the only one in recent history who it could be argued developed as a role player except as more of a middle-6 based on current usage.
The veteran 4th line the Flyers put together this year, while certainly not bad, has been dramatically oversold to fans. The veteran acquisitions didn’t include a 13F type and having a coach who is unwilling to scratch any veteran or put any other veteran on the 4th line, shows poor planning by management. Torts has options but makes this situation worse by not using them.
Morgan Frost at age 24, scoring 19 goals last season, should be working on improving his playmaking at the NHL level. It would be a losing debate for someone to argue that Frost isn’t one of the top 12 current forwards. This isn’t a good competition/good problem of a contender. Also, Frost is not an ideal 13th forward. With a rebuilding, non-playoff team, maybe not having an ideal 13F is no big deal, but using a talented, developing forward in that role certainly is. |

I never said teams wouldn't be interested. I think its more that the team that would be interested may not be able to give the Flyers a good deal, or have the cap space to trade for him, or have enough picks or prospects to make the deal any good for the Flyers etc etc etc.

Carolina as a team has been uncharacteristically poor defensively. Normally one of the best defensive teams in the league. I don't know if it is poor play in front or a goaltending issue. Or both.

It’s noteworthy that it’s Verbeek strategically scratching Carlsson to ease him into the NHL. He’s never played more than 44 games in a season. Brink has never played more than 43 games. It’s tough to adapt to the rigors of an 82 game season. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I have been reading about their uncharacteristic start to the season. Even their PK is bad ao far..did they have a big turnover of players in the off season or is this just them not being in sync yet?
I can't imagine this sub par level of play lasts much longer for Carolina |
