No, it's their fault they tried to circumvent it. There were literally articles written about how people were surprised that Dadonov waived to go to Anaheim. Again, if a hockey blogger knows, you think the Las Vegas Knights were not aware? If that's what we think, I have many bridges to sell. - QuinnFan
The deal got nixed. That was the Vegas penalty.
Ottawa lying about their not being a clause and there being no list at the time a trade was being consummated must be penalized.
You cannot have that in the league. |

They get to decide for the 2024 AND 2025 draft, after each draft lottery. |

Capfriendly has been wrong in the past, and did they have any intention of trading him at the time they acquired him, enough that knowing Dadonov had a clause would have prohibited them from making the trade to get him?
Doubtful.
That loose ship just won the cup.
I wish the Sabres ran a loose ship like that, where winning was the only thing that mattered. - kingcong39
The answer to your question is undoubtedly. That's why I mentioned the loose ship, they are anything but. They knew full well and tried to force the trade through after they were told as well. Again, being willfully ignorant isn't a good excuse. |

I'm not defending Ottawa, but if you think Vegas learned of this after making the trade...again...bridges are for sale. |

I think they took a shot and hoped he would waive, if Anaheim was on his list.
It worked out better for Vegas, trading for Weber's contract, as it gave them the extra cap room needed last season.
Overall, you seem to have a lot of hate for Vegas. |

Bridges are also for sale if your take on this isn't tinged at least a lite bit by your hatred of Vegas. |

A question on a trade call shouldn't be a single point of failure for this. Vegas deserves some blame, so does the league.

No question on both, but you cannot have a team lying about contract details to another team.
Ottawa deserved the penalty. |

I don't like teams that break the rules without facing repercussions. This whole, "oh maybe they just didn't know", nonsense is just that. Same with the cap circumvention. Letting franchises get away with these types of actions will ruin the league and I've said it before. TB can get the horns for that too. |

The deal got nixed by the league, and they didn't have time to make another due to the trade deadline having passed.
What additional repercussions were you looking for there...? |

There are at least 12 teams operating over to well over the cap limit this season.
Should all 12 face repercussions for that, or do you only care about teams that win the cup while over the cap limit? |

Every league deals with injuries and teams using the rules to their advantage. Overruling team doctors is tough to do.
If you don't want guys returning the day the playoffs start or you want some kind of cap during the playoffs, change the rules.

Exactly.
The league doesn't seem to care, so why should we? |

#Sens owner Michael Andlauer says #NHL did not advise him of either investigation - botched Dadonov "no-trade" clause or Pinto sports betting incident - before he closed on purchase.
“Maybe they didn’t want to disrupt [it] to make sure the seller got the best price possible."
"You look at a young man who is making millions of dollars and representing the community... but he's 21 years old. Wayne Gretzky goes on MGM and talks about betting. Think about being injured, having time on your hands and a cell phone..."
- Michael Andlauer
