The Marner haters never stop lol.

He’s been good. He’ll be great this season.

He’s still >> Willy. But Willy closed the gap considerably.

Give Marner 12

Give Willy 9.88

Keep this core.

The boys seem like they’re a little wobbly every October. Marner and Matthews will dominate in November.

Their being a little wobbly is still a point a game. They'll be okay.

If your choice was to 1. trade one of Nylander or Marner or 2. eat only vegetables for the rest of your life. Which one you trade?

Hahah beat me too it. That is exactly why I laugh when people say Eh. I say it. When I coached in the USA they always made fun of me. I would coach at summer camps and every 2nd skit was about me and the other Canadian coaches saying Eh?

- jribout

Yeah I took a lot of shot when I lived in the States, except in Minnesota where people talk really funny. Weird thing is when I moved back, everyone said I sounded like an American.

I know a lot of guys that played the highest level of puck that are dumb as (frank) about the game. I think it is ignorant to think you have had to play at a high level to to know the game. I mean a lot of people do not like Dubas but I am guessing most would think he knows more about the game than the average high level puck player? As for making fun of you saying eh, I was joking, so take off Eh. You hoser!

Also my dad and sister were/are English teachers so I do not give 2 (frank)s about grammar.

- jribout

Ha…How dare you call me a hoser - you know I’d take it more personally!

Seriously though it’s all good man. I’m too old to not be comfy with who I am at this point…not as old some of the other folks here but older indeed.

The bolded:I think your 2 examples are the exceptions not the rule kinda thing personally. But I agree you can absolutely understand the game for sure, especially growing up here you know. But certain small finite type things and on a different level you need to go through years of coaching, systems, experiences, hearing other players ways to see the game on bench in game and after game etc. It gives you that different level type thing.

But you’re right in that sometimes a players skill or size (back in the day) doesn’t match to their IQ always and it means while they can see the play on a level they just couldn’t get there playing it. And the flip too eh - some players can play but not too bright out there. Sometimes the smarts gets you further than should’ve went too.

Hockey especially in this country is a competitive and passionate environment and the debates are what us warm when the weather dips

Trading Nylander or Marner would be hockeytarily incorrect, and I love vegetables, so I'll take the vegetable option. Assuming that includes fruit, legumes and grains and so on. Can't live on Blue and White Kool Aid alone.

Arguably, yes. Without the pandemic he probably would have already. He's already done 97 points in 72 games.

No way should Marner or Nylander ever be traded. Not now, a few years ago I might've traded one of them.

JT's $11m would be nice to have back, but he's doing alright and probably will keep doing alright until that contract is done. Hopefully he's signs a nice "team friendly" deal and stays. So some savings coming there...maybe he signs for $7m to retire a Leaf...so $4m back in the team treasury.

Brodie is the only money that could be moved out this year but how do you trade Brodie for another Dman? Not happening.

So the Leafs just need REALLY good goaltending with the D they have and a Marlie or two to be able to step up as needed.

They're good enough to win. For sure.

Any thoughts on who could step in and make a difference from the Marlies? Serious question.

I do t know he’s doing this year but I could most easily see McMann come up and add something. I think Nickie is the guy who could come in and make the biggest difference offensively but could also never quite get it together.

No way in hell JT gets $7M on his next contract.

At least not from the Leafs.
