I'm not sure that it's that black or white. In all likelihood the real question is whether he recklessly stuck his leg/foot out trying to catch a piece of him ...after he realized he had totally missed with the body.

A lot of guys go for the head-on ...a guy avoids it ...then they instinctively stick out the leg to try to catch a piece. It sucks but it's almost instinctive when it happens that way.

This one ...if that's the way it's determined to have gone ...potentially has some real legal questions.

this incident (not 'accident') is the equivalent of a guy driving with a sports car 90 mile per hour in a small street next to a school and 'accidently' killing 3 kids that were crossing.

We can debate back and forth on whether it was deliberate or not, but one thing is for certain: I've never seen anything like that before in any hockey game I've ever played in or watched.

In fact, nothing even close.

Its actually (frank)ed up is what it is. That kick was intentional and there's no way i watch that and think otherwise. Do I think he actually tried to murder the guy on the ice nope. But that was intent to injure taking a turn for the worse IMO.

This is kinda where I have landed. Although I don't think there was "intent to injure" - just in a split second there was intent to hit him with a kick. No further thought beyond that.

Having said that, there is no chance whatsoever of any type of conviction.

I'm tired of dressing up as Wedgie-era characters, and the kids at the door have no franking idea who I am.

I was a Blues Brother last year, and the closest guess was a Man in Black.

We are expecting 300-400 kids tonight. Our street is a madhouse.

Jesus

What’s it like the monument in Charlestown? I might see 25.

I live on a pretty random side street.

Wish list for tonight :

1) Nobody else gets hurt. ✊

2) Floaty Ny the Goals Guy lights the lamp.

3) Matthews hat trick.

4) Reaves murders somebody who has it coming.

5) Who's starting? Is it Woll I assume? If so, then you know.

And no - the hockey guy did not try to intentionally murder another hockey guy for hockey reasons. Although, it would be interesting to hear from Skatey McSkatington and try to understand what he was thinking by doing his best Rockettes impersonation.

Charlie McAvoy will have a phone hearing with @NHLPlayerSafety today following his interference/illegal check to the head on Oliver Ekman-Larsson, which points to a potential suspension of five games or less.

I love Halloween but hate the taste of pumpkin. It's a cold one so I'll be sportin' a big jug of mulled wine I think.

**and when I get home it'll be bourbon and my daughters Halloween caramels.

I'm just trying to figure out how that would be possible.

Best I can come up with is that the opposing player (not the victim) brushes the player with his shoulder, which normally would spin the guy downward and clockwise. But his right skate is firmly dug into the ice, causing him to do a weird pirouette, where his torso is forced downward and to the right, and his left leg flies up.

Sorry, best I can do.

It's like watching the Zapruder film over and over again.

- Atomic Wedgie

To me it looks like intent to interfere with the RIP guy, doubt he was actually trying for a throat cut...maybe a pretend fall with a knee to the gut to take the RIP guy out of the play that ended with a (frank)ed up outcome. Like you said, (frank)ing around, not trying to murder, and then things went bad.

Either way, not watching it again. Terrible. You guys and Max can keep me updated.

The Reaves signing is still unfolding for me ...for good or bad.

He's clearly limited ..even a liability at hockey'ing. But (and it's early) this team hasn't had those Leafy moments where we get shoved around after the whistles. It looks like guys are mixing it up after whistles and giving it back a bit. Still watching to see if the big scary goon factor has an impact.

My kids are officially aged-out of trick or treating, so I'm scarfing down crap today, knowing there won't be anything left to eat tomorrow.

I cheated this year by adding a bunch of Easter/Christmas chocolate we haven't eaten to the bowl.
