I think Allvin has done more to improve the team in one year than Linden or Benning did in ten years. - Pacificgem
I do agree somewhat but I think there is more to it than that. When they came in the team was free falling and turned into a joke. They hired a bad group and when it was over they left still as the joke of the league but with a very good core.
This is one of the best cores in Canuck history and are hitting prime years. So the new group are doing a good job and one of the big factors is we no longer hear from the idiot owner.
I do believe though now we do have smarter hockey people running things.

True but it starts with them not giving up on this young core of Petey, Demko, Hughes and building around them. A core they didn't draft. A core most fans had given up on.
One management team provided a Vezina, Hart, Norris quality young core and the next built a more complete team around it. The two stage is not uncommon.... Like Burke/Nonis followed by Gillis/Gillman. |

The single most important thing they've done is bring in the right coaching staff, from top to bottom. The players clearly have a lot of respect for these guys as they've finally bought into playing a certain way.
You can have the most talented team in the world, see Edmonton or Toronto, both good teams, but if they're not well coached it really doesn't matter. Tocchet, Foote, Yeo, Gonchar, Sedins and Ian Clark have so much experience these guys respect them. Miller being one of the best players IMO didn't have a lot of respect for Bruce Boudreau and he was never held accountable....that's changed for him and everyone else. |

Are you saying you didn't like our fantastic coaching staff over the last decade?

No question, losing affords you the ability to grab good players. But that alone isn't going to work, as we all saw. Edmonton has McDavid and Draisaitl, they've won three of the past four Hart Trophies and six of the past seven Art Ross Trophies.
It's about buying into playing the right way, I mean, look at Boston, outside of Pasta and that little (frank) weasel Marchand they're a lunch-bucket group, but they play a certain way and they win. LA and Vegas same thing. Although they have more talent. |

As you've pointed out many times, they just wouldn't bring in the right coaching staff, it was embarrassing. Aquilini is a cheap pri ck!! |

Preaching to the choir. I just explained this more or less in my post you are quoting.

I mentioned that to a buddy last week when we were talking about what's different this season. We'll see how long it lasts but the silence is wonderful. |

After years of backwards training camps from Green and Bruce, we finally had a logical one. I was sold on RT in Sept. All the past lectures about preseasons being redundant no matter how many seasons were bad starts totally laughable. RT gave all the unlikely players the first game and moved into NHL lines hastily after that. This team was prepared. My case all along. |

All 3 games the teams will be on the 2nd of b2b...
The only thing I worry about is if Demko only gets the Leaf game out of those 3, it's only 1 game in 8 days for him.

I wouldn't doubt it, we used to always throw a jab in their how we were going to have relations with the guys mom too, just to piss him off. - Pacificgem
People had much thicker skin back then. Even my Mom laughed at some of the stuff I told her guys would say on the ice about her. |
