Flyguys will be in the last place in the East by Turkey Day. The tankers approve!! - Phillywhiteout
The funny thing is, Jonesy and Torts aren't trying to tank. They're desperately hoping to sneak into the playoffs, and they think building the team's identity around a 4th line featuring two guys over 30 is the way to do it.

This is valuable time for Frost to learn from the error of his ways. Clearly it is better to play well, not be rewarded for that hard work of creating chances, and then sit in the Cote Suite.
He'll be a better player (most likely for another team) for it. All hail Torts.
Glad I fell asleep after the first. I've seen this story before anyway. |

The PP has cost the Flyers no less than 3 games this season. It is brutal watching it. No one gets to the net and the players appear lost. Fire the effing coach!! These are still professional hockey players and no PP should look this bad. Torts starting the 4th line last night and setting the team on their heals right off the bat is really starting to irk me. I'm not a Torts hater, but my patience with him is wearing thin. You have a team coming into the game with ZERO confidence and you should have taken it to them right off the hop! Torts start the 4th line and they get hemmed in immediately. The problem is that Torts has no one to answer to. - Phillywhiteout
Not only no one to answer to but he also has no answer. The play hard and outwork the other team wasn't going to last and the only tool he has in his coaching tool bag is to scratch someone. Who is it going to be next to solve the problem? The Flyers are still frustrating as hell but every loss gets them micro closer to firing Tortorella.

I think if Frost is freed, his FO% would improve. I also think his playmaking would have helped. I still think Forester needs to sit. Even though he has been decent, I don't like Laughton at center
Of course this is my opinion. - WhiskeyMan
I thought Foerster was one of the better guys last night. Forechecked well, got some shots off and was generally engaged. I’d rather see a few other guys in the press box. With Torts ? Who knows which way he goes. |

I agree. I think he's played well in five of his last six games. Still can't finish. But the chances are there. |

Didn’t watch game. Was wondering how TK had 14 pim and Scott L had 10. Anybody know what went down ? - Angus4444
TK got a roughing/tripping double minor earlier in game…I think it was a trip…took a guy with him only for the rough. He got a 10 minute misconduct at the end of the game in a little scrum. |

The triumvirate is meeting. Have to ask Tortorella what they should do.
I don't know why some can't see the culture the Flyers are building here. How they have buy in with the coach and how it's different this year. The Flyers are clearly trending in the right direction under Tortorella. He has the support of the organization. More of the problem players need to be weeded out. They work hard and play a 200 foot game. They have the leadership and example set by players like Deslauriers. The Flyers are on the forefront of the NHL and are trend-setting with the triumvirate leadership group. Revolutionizing the position of Pres of hockey ops. I'm blinded by the bright future of this team. |

Torts has already set himself up by saying”there are times this year we are going to struggle”…mind you he points to the young d core as the issue. Some of those guys are not young that are making bad decisions. |

Keep putting him out there. If he wasn't getting the chances, that would be one thing. Positive reinforcement and keep calling his number. Or they could scratch him. See how that works.
I hear adjustments are going to be made on the PP. Going to try bringing the goalie up as a 6th attacker. Not net front though. Too much bulk to get a puck through to the net.

Ersson was OK last night….but that 2nd goal looked like he lost his angle. By the time the puck went in he had given 3/4 of the net to shoot at. But at least his game is passable in the last two. |

Do the Flyers make any moves by the end of the calendar year?
Also, I like Noah Cates but he has to have pics of Torts or something right? How is he on PP1 at all? Hell it is questionable whether or not he belongs on PP2. |

Bill Meltzer: Wrap: Flyers Stumble in San Jose, 2-1 - bmeltzer
Agree on Foerster, want to see what happens when he gets 1. Farabee nice game and playing well.
Your feedback on Torts presser after the game, his response about Frost. Seems to me, he was defensive, usually means guilty |

The PP once again is killing this team. Though I didn't think the Flyers had their A game in this game, just converting on a couple of PP chances would have got them a win. If you look at the 4 on 3 PP by San Jose, they scored with a good one timer from inside the right circle. This is how you do it! With the Flyers they either try to stick handle through 3 players or when they do get a good look for a one timer they don't take it, and try to pass out of it. This is the biggest problem with the Flyers PP, they have go to learn to open up space and get that one timer on the net. They are holding the puck and waiting too long. |

When Torts lets him out of the crate. 🐶 - Tomahawk
“He’s excited about this, about working with the young guys,” Brière said of Tortorella. “He doesn’t care if it’s a veteran or a young guy, he’ll use a player that is deserving, the players that he feels [are] ready for it. Rookie or not, they’ll get the chance.
“Look at how he used Noah Cates last year. He put him in really tough matchups all year long, and he wasn’t afraid to. So I think there’s — don’t tell Torts I said that — I think there’s a wrong perception of him out there. I think he likes it, maybe. He’s great to work with, he wants to work with the young guys. He’s excited about this chance to build a team with young guys.”

If they are smart they re visit the Summers conversations for some of the older guys that don’t fit the time line for contention and start calling the Edmonton, Calgary’s, Ottawa’s and St. Louis’s of the world…some of these teams are on the hot seat to contend for the playoffs and need a life line. Cates is a good 3rd line talent… he has some skill. He’s definitely a coach’s player…but ya, you wonder why they have the worst pp in the NHL or their about’s. |

They should be able to lose the next 4, the sharks lose could be key to getting 1st pick. I was Briere I would sell as soon as I could, take the best pick this draft, hope Panthers just miss playoffs |
