They should be able to lose the next 4, the sharks lose could be key to getting 1st pick. I was Briere I would sell as soon as I could, take the best pick this draft, hope Panthers just miss playoffs

I don’t see the Flyers anywhere as bad as the team they played last night…they are god awful….will be lucky to win 12-13 games all year. The Flyers are a team still trying to find a consistent game….I go back to Friday in Buffalo…that team no way resembled these last two games.

If they are smart they re visit the Summers conversations for some of the older guys that don’t fit the time line for contention and start calling the Edmonton, Calgary’s, Ottawa’s and St. Louis’s of the world…some of these teams are on the hot seat to contend for the playoffs and need a life line. Cates is a good 3rd line talent… he has some skill. He’s definitely a coach’s player…but ya, you wonder why they have the worst pp in the NHL or their about’s.

Edmonton is a loss to San Jose away from full implosion. Keep them on speed dial.

Calgary won't do anything I don't think. Ottawa is interesting. They seem to want to be better but I am not sure they will pay the price tag. St. Louis will wait it out awhile longer.

Another problem is not only do the Flyers suck at developing players. They suck at developing coaching talent. There is not a single person in the organization being groomed or looks to have the pedigree to become an NHL head coach. Even if they fired Tortorella, which they should, are there any internal candidates to take his place? I don't see any.

He’s everything. The NHL in general isn’t a fan of new blood behind the boards. Another obvious but you hire a veteran coach to do a rebuild? This would be the time to go poach an up and coming major junior or college coach.

I’m seeing posts about how the Flyers should be calling teams and selling players that don’t fit in their timeline for contention. The problem with that is the Flyers timeline for contention is vastly different than what the fans perceive it to be.

Jones and Tortorella have a short term plan. Briere, who is being played like a fiddle, has a plan that is a bit longer than that (still too short imo).

This is a rebrand. They aren’t rebuilding. Tortorella is running the ship.

He is? Dubas is a coach? I agree, I wouldn't want another high profile recycled coach.

In the Flyers mind they are grooming coaches. Flyers value loyalty and intangibles beyond anything else and Laperriere has that in spades. He has “paid his dues” and is a “warrior” aka taken enough checks and pucks to the head.

For the Flyers it isn’t about foward thinking or X’s and O’s. The Flyer culture of yesteryear still permeates the building and has festered into a toxic poison that needs to be lit aflame.

The lack of push back the last two games is concerning. When you have Laughton on the ice for the extra attacker it’s like Torts is trying to send a message to some others…but Christ half the team was invisible….lots of shots but so many passed up from solid scoring positions. The Sharks had allowed 20 (frank)in goals in two games…they are as bad as I’ve seen as far as structure…yet the Flyers looked to mail it in.

The problems with San Jose I can see with our team.

Cup or bust for Edmonton? They have to do something or they’ll get torched all season for the statement

“Rebuild”

That was the buzzword along with “collaborate” over the summer. At this point, does anyone really know what those words mean to the Flyers front office?

The Flyera are revolutionizing NHL front office structure. It is paying huge dividends. The rest of the league is sure to emulate.

Jones has said they don't mind Michcov playing in the khl for 3 years as it aligns with their thoughts on the rebuild. Echoed by Briere too. You think they have shifted that line of thinking?

Selkes injury obviously impacting his faceoff win %. just watching him take draws.. hes not the same. w that said, why frost is not in there is beyond my comprehension. no he wont help on draws, but yes he can create which is something this team is terrible at so. wtf

The funny thing is, Jonesy and Torts aren't trying to tank. They're desperately hoping to sneak into the playoffs, and they think building the team's indentity around a 4th line featuring two guys over 30 is the way to do it.

You're depressing me with your facts lol.

Do you think zamula would be playing every night if toilet stall and rr were healthy?

The answer tells you that torts isn’t rebuilding

The Sharks are terrible. The Flyers didn’t execute and gave up the puck too easily. Konecny took himself out of the game by being hyper focused on pushing Eklund around.

And I don't understand sitting Frost in this game. Couts looked and played like he was uncomfortable the entire game. His slowness and reluctance to take the extra stride to get to the puck reminded me of how he looked before he went out with the back injury. I hope it's just hamstring soreness and nothing more. But still, against the worst team in the league, let Couts rest an extra game and keep Frost in there. If Frost is going to be used like this, the Flyers need to trade him, it's not fair to him at this point. How do you expect the kid to get his game going if he going to be constantly sat out of games?
