I think my position on Frost has been made crystal clear. I vehemently disagree with the Flyers about their handling of him. Long-term, I think it's clear that the coach and the POHO do not value the player. Such is how it goes sometimes in hockey. Not my decision to make. |

I does appear that way. You’re correct that sometimes that’s just how it goes. It’s really become crystal clear that the the length of leash some have differ from what others are awarded. Frankly I like Atkinson? But I’m playing the 24 year old with upside over the 34 yr old vet who in no way fits the future of the club.
I realize the answer from coach and management borders on the ability of today and what that player brings today and that competition is a good thing, but then please don’t call this a rebuild. To absolutely screw up Frost’s development for a team that clearly is not ready to contend or be a playoff position threat borders on just plain stupid. |

They will be lucky to get a 5th round pick for the kid due to torts treatment of him

I don't think I can say it any better than what was said above. The rebuild is a farce. Frost has done nothing but bust his ass for this franchise to try and make a career in the NHL for himself. It's not as though he is a fringe player. If they're not going to play the kid and don't view him as part of their future. They need to do the right thing and trade him. Even if they don't get the return they want. That is the position they have put themselves in. It's not as if they could keep playing him to try and maximize return. That apparently is not an option and they're too dumb to think of doing that. What a disgrace. |

That is the key.....I think they have been piss poor at development, you can have a thousand first-round picks....but if you can't develop them.....whats the point? |

The Frost situation is just that now, a situation. It’s a farce. How can the fans take the teams “rebuild” narrative seriously when this talented kid is denied the opportunity to play. Remember how absurd it was when Michkov was treated the same way earlier this year by SKA St Petersburg? Does Roman Rotenberg share coaching philosophies with Torts? Watch Frost finally get traded but below his value and become a really good and reliable top 9 or top 6 NHL player for years to come. |

It's almost criminal what he's doing to not only Frost's career but also the Flyers. Comcast shuffled the deck chairs and made Torts the franchise so there's nobody who to rein in a 65 year old coach on his final coaching contract who absolutely nobody else wanted to hire at the time.
Future team president in waiting.

Kind of a similar situation just played out with Addison, albeit different players and teams in different stages but a young, talented player who keeps getting benched. Wouldn't shock me if a team tries to buy low on Frost and Briere, realizing he's been outvoted by 2/3 of the vaunted triumvirate, pulls the trigger.
The Flyers are exactly the team who should be buying low on these types of players. Addison had 18 power play points last year, maybe he'd help this historically bad PP! Instead, they're committed to playing older, gritty veterans to be 'hard to play against' and teach the young guys the 'right way to play'. |

The Flyers are 27th in the NHL, and the Phantoms are 6th in their 8 team division, just like last year.
Danny, Lappy, Jonesy and Torts have speed run the season and now we can just start getting ready for the draft and free agency. |

So is Danny the odd man out here regarding Frost? Thought it was mentioned he was part of the group to get him playing time next year. |

Seeing Addison traded and the return certainly caused me to ask the same question. Why aren’t the Flyers buying low on young players with great potential upside? |

I was going to make the argument that we are paying Frost $2.1 million for the next two years to sit in the press box but then I realized that we are paying Hayes $3.65 million for the next 3 years to play for another team. I've got nothing.
We'll probably end up paying Torts his $4mil for the last two years of his contract to play with his dogs.
DB has been quiet. I only hope he has been strategizing a way to extract Michkov from Russia in a daring night time raid.
Loss to SJS stings. We're getting chances just not burying them. Cutter (at wing) will help that. But we need a play-making center to get him the puck. Any ideas? Free Frosty... |

Where did the strong improvement and how it's different this year that I've been hearing about go?

Who would you take out of this lineup though? Everybody is really trying hard and producing except for Frost.

It's an extremely stupid way to handle the situation. If two thirds of the front office didn't rate Frost, why did he get a 2 x $2.1m contract? Briere was prepared to take a bath on Hayes and Angelo just to get rid of them and almost traded Sanheim for 32 year old Krug, so why not move Frost over the summer for a pick when he was coming off a 46 point season?
Now they are destroying his trade value by healthy scratching him just to send out a lineup of 12 guys who could only manage one goal against the laughing stock Sharks. |

Slowly sinking to the bottom, maybe they're worse than I thought they were going to be. But that's fine. When is the right time to start trading some veteran players for picks and or youth? |

Like who? They can't move Laughton because then they would have no one to play top 9 center. Couturier, Cates, Laughton... they're the only centers on the roster right now. |

With the incompetence of this front office obviously run by Jones and Tortorella in cahoots. Is there such a thing as the right time?

Is there any doubt that if Couturier and Atkinson hadn't been hurt last season, that Frost never would've gotten a shot last season?

It's a pattern with Torts. He picks a player, denigrates his game, refuses to play him and then the Flyers are forced to pay to get rid of him. Hayes, TDA, and now probably Frost. I still can't believe that the Flyers went with 5 defenseman rather than put TDA in the lineup at the end of last year. That's crazy.
Torts was on board with the TDA signing but somehow his "eye and gut test" missed TDA's deficiencies in the defensive zone.

I agree, Frosty is Tort's new whipping boy. Its (frank)ed up how he is being handled. The kid does have some upside, he is never going to be a 30 goal scorer, but he has good hands and has played more disciplined late last year and pre season this year, i get there is only enough room on roster, but to have him sit as a black ace almost every night is crazy, rotate the healthies.
That being said, this team's future is bright, i just hope tort's message doesnt wear thin by the time this team is ready to compete. But i think we all know the answer to that.
as for the loss in SJ, i mean seriously that game was awful, i mean this flyers team plays off emotion because we lack the talent to take us there, and when you play vs a team that really has nothing to lose and wont get into the after whistle poop, in front of 150 people, its hard to get up for those or keep your drive. the after whistle stuff TK tried to start at end of game was way too late, should have started that stuff early on in 1st. |

Zero doubt.
When asked if it was tough to take Frost out of the lineup, Tortorella responded, “No.”
