Nice couple of wins back to back on the road. Keep building it up. Sometimes it won’t be pretty, but that’s expected with a young group. Like the fact that the youngsters are the focal point in a win. Would love to see Foerster just get one for a confidence builder. |

Well I predicted the right score but got the teams backwards. Oops
Frost sure did look really happy after he got that first goal and during intermission qhwn they spoke with him.
I bet torts hated to see him look so happy.
Suck it, torts - Bob Habib
It would really be good to know torts true rationale for all the scratches for frost. I expect it’s as simple as the fact that he’s not a north south grinder and if so, that is an archaic way of thinking imo. |

They’re starting to look like a .500 non playoff team barring injuries. Agreed on foerster. Like to see him get one, then I bet the hockey gods let him go on a streak. |

Yeah it’s a double edge sword, a .500 non playoff team doesn’t get us in that top portion of the draft, which we all want. I just can’t root a team to lose for six months. |

agree, but also hoping they trade a couple more players and get additional 1st round picks. having a couple years with multiple first round and maybe a few second round picks could also go a long way.

I feel like I've heard someone else mention how archaic torts is... 🤔🤔🤔
If only I could recall who else has said that...
And for the record torts IS archaic and unfairly targets certain players |

I don't want Frost spending much of his time at the front of the net without the puck, hoping someone else gets it there to him. I want him handling pucks frequently and making plays for linemates. That's his No. 1 skillset. - bmeltzer

Evens out for totally getting robbed of an apple in this game on belpedio’s first of the season: https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/games/2566593/
He was one of the best players on the ice that game, was far from the worst in the next game which the kings won 5-0 then gets sat again.
If he gets sat after last night I think pitchforks and torches calling for torts immediate removal are appropriate. |

Your opinion seems to be different than 99% of people out there...including the experts like Mckenzie on TSN, and Bill on this site...the professional writer who covers the Flyers for his career. I just think you are wrong.
You hold Frost to a different level of expectations than any other player in this league. His play this year and last year says he should be in the lineup, and scratching your most creative forward on a team that struggles to score is just idiotic. He is not supposed to be a net front presence, but a shifty, play making, skating forward who sets up the netfront presence. Your criticism of his play is based on what you percieve his role to be, but that perception is wrong.
He HAS played well, and better than Foerster and Brink when they are all in the lineup together.
Hmmm...Tippet has started scoring...coincides with him playing with Frost. No coincidence there at all. - TheFreak

I'm going to plug this in tomorrow's blog, but thought I'd preview it on the message board today. If you can get to the Flyers Alumni vs. Bruins Alumni game on January 26, I'd highly recommend adding on the VIP reception (starts 90 mins before the game). It's a high-price add-on but pretty close to a once-in-a-lifetime event.
All of the Flyers Alumni Team players suiting up for the game are slated to attend the VIP reception: Mike Richards, Mark Recchi, Eric Lindros, John LeClair, Mark Howe, Kimmo Timonen, Scott Hartnell, Brent Fedyk, The Bruise Brothers (Dave Brown and Daryl Stanley), Todd Fedoruk, Brian Boucher, Robert Esche.
Nearly all of the surviving members of the Flyers two Stanley Cup teams will be on hand all weekend for their 50th anniversary reunion: not just the ones who live locally but also Alumni who live across the US and Canada. As far as I know, Bruce Cowick is the only one who is unable to attend. Even Alumni who rarely travel anymore, such as Ed Van Impe, will be coming because this reunion will almost certainly be the final one for the group as a whole.
Several Flyers Hall of Famers who don't fit the first or second groups (not playing in the game, but participating as guest coaches) will also be at the VIP reception. That includes Brian Propp and Paul Holmgren.
If you've never been to one of the previous VIP receptions -- this one will be the biggest once since the Golden Anniversary reception back in 2017 -- basically, it's catered dinner and open bar event where attending Flyers fans are welcome to collect autographs, take photos with the Alumni, etc.
It's a big-ticket expense ($300 per attendee on top of the game tickets) but it's absolutely worth it. It's inevitably everyone's favorite part of these weekends. |

If Michkov and Cutter are what we all hope they are, doesn’t it make sense to allow a young player like Frost to establish himself a complimentary play maker to those players’ finishing abilities? Why does it seem Torts simply wants to throw away such a potential offensive player? Not everyone is or needs to be a heavy body and a complete 200 foot player. Am I missing something? |

Had an assist taken from him by a questionable scoring change later in the evening in Buffalo. Frost and Zamula lost assists, and a shot block credited to Henri Jokiharju was changed to a giveaway (thereby making Belpedio's goal unassisted). It was a really harsh scoring decision. On Friday, yes, the assist on Tippet's goal was a gift. But it evened out for Frost. For Zamula, not so much. |

For the most part, yes I think they are. They have scored 3 or more goals in only 3 of 15 games this year. So 12 of 15 games they have scored 2 or less goals in a game. Seems low scoring to me. |

or a playmaking center for the second line, with Tippet and Farabee, as I think TK will get traded for a top center prospect or pick used on a center. In the Lindros days, having Brindamour as an 80 point #2 center was a team strength, and while Frost definitely isn't Brindamour, he has the skill to be a point producing 2nd line threat.
Michkov, XXX, Cutter
Farabee, Frost, Tippett
Brink, Coots, Laughton
We know Tippet and Frost work well together and so does Farabee and Tippett. We would even have a very decent 3rd scoring line with Brink and Coots.
Trade Hart and TK for firsts and prospects, and see what we have. |
