Islanders maintain their perfect OT record. They've lost every OT game this season. |

The best part of that game was where I fell asleep with 6:30 left in the second to 16:40 in the third |

They all fell asleep. Team used to be a great defensive team. If they would score 3 goals they had a good shot at winning.
That’s all gone.

The worst part was that the Isles looked pretty good in stretches. They lost due to all the penalties and the weak PK.

Which was their strength. Play structured defensive and disciplined hockey and a strong pk. It’s gone. How does that happen? |

Can they do better with a new coach? Maybe but I don’t see exactly what he’s doing wrong. His lineup decisions are fine imo. I don’t think he’s telling these guys to go out there and play undisciplined hockey and zero defense. Looks more like a personnel problem to me. I say that not sticking up for Lane but I really think our team isn’t that good. That’s the real problem.
He’ll get fired and maybe the team gets a bit of a jump from it and wins some games but the real problem remains. The team isn’t that great. |

The Isles are basically 5-10 when you slide the four loser point losses over to the left. They have the second worst point total in the east, lost 6 in a row, and have a -12 goal differential. I am with you, not sure a coaching change will help much. But, it's very likely Lane will be gone after this trip. I've had about enough of Lou. |

Yep. Lane will be the fall guy but ultimately this all falls on Lou’s head. It won’t matter he’ll do whatever he wants I’m sure as far as his future with the club. I’m sure they’ll get some life injected into them after he gets fired and who knows maybe they surprise but in the end this is a mediocre, aging, roster. |

I was hoping the new owners would be different and not stay the course for years when it is not working. ( went through that when Wang owned the team)
Other teams make changes right away not the Islanders, keep same GM over and Over . |

It's on Lou. I just hope he's gone before he trades away more picks. This team isn't a trade away from being a cup contender.
I think Lane is gone. It's not all his fault but he seems to have lost the room. There have been so many undisciplined penalties and no one seems to be held accountable. |

This team struggles in OT because they cannot keep up with the other team. When the other teams pick up the pace and intensity, the Islanders cannot handle it. Lou should fire Lane than all the attention goes to Lou where it belongs.

I don’t think even Lou will be trading picks at this point. I could be wrong about that. It wouldn’t surprise me but I don’t think I am. Everything else I agree with. |

The coach is a lazy scapegoat. They're old, slow, and not very skilled. They start out well and once they face a little bit of adversity, usually self-inflicted in the the form of numerous penalties, they fold.
Lambert may ultimately be the guy to take the fall, somewhat rightfully so, but he's far from the main problem with this team. |

I forgot where I read this, but someone made a comment Lou wants to die sitting at his desk. He really does not seem to be the retirement type. Might be on L&M. |

Interesting.
Nelson being productive with wings like Palms and Pierre is impressive. Rather Wally gets the spot with Nelson and move Palms to the 3rd line. |
