I think anyone with eyes and a basic knowledge of hockey can tell the Isles are slow - eichiefs9
Yeah not sure how someone would miss that. |

Interesting.
Nelson being productive with wings like Palms and Pierre is impressive. Rather Wally gets the spot with Nelson and move Palms to the Anaheim Ducks. - ses111

I don’t think even Lou will be trading picks at this point. I could be wrong about that. It wouldn’t surprise me but I don’t think I am. Everything else I agree with. - Cptmjl
He won't trade any picks at this point. I really begin to wonder WHEN he will axe Lane though. After they lose all the games on this road trip? Beyond that?

I would say the end of this trip unless he’s having a hard time finding a replacement. I can’t imagine Lou putting one of the assistants in as an interim with their body of work.
Who knows there doesn’t seem to be much accountability these days which is weird with Lou. Would be hysterical if he promoted Maclean. |

Can they do better with a new coach? Maybe but I don’t see exactly what he’s doing wrong. His lineup decisions are fine imo. I don’t think he’s telling these guys to go out there and play undisciplined hockey and zero defense. Looks more like a personnel problem to me. I say that not sticking up for Lane but I really think our team isn’t that good. That’s the real problem.
He’ll get fired and maybe the team gets a bit of a jump from it and wins some games but the real problem remains. The team isn’t that great. - Cptmjl
You are probably 100% correct. However, for a 1st year coach, I do not see much passion and fire. I do not see exhausting every option.
Every time this team strays away from the defensive style of the game, they suffer. This not a high octane offensive team and we know it. You either have to find a hybrid that works or stick with the defensive style until you have the horses to play in the new NHL. That is the bottom line.

OH I can see him promoting Maclean. Here is an off the cuff thought. What about giving Patrick Roy as shot. He as somewhat successful with the AVS. He is a fiery no-nonsense guy.

Would not be surprising if it is Maclean. This cannot be a highly sort after job right now and what big names are available and without baggage? |

"Doug Houda has been named interim head coach of the New York Islanders" - eichiefs9
Same players and same assistants brought back. What could have gone wrong? It’s a shock. |

I believe there’s a reason Roy still doesn’t have a job but I don’t really care who they make coach. I just want this lineup to start being dismantled.
They’ve been given every opportunity to succeed now going on three years. Maybe a longer leash then any other team I can remember. It’s laughable at this point. Tag on the recent extensions and signings and it becomes downright hysterical(bad, really bad). |

Wouldn’t be the first time. I believe he did that when he fired Lemaire no? |

The coach is a lazy scapegoat. They're old, slow, and not very skilled. They start out well and once they face a little bit of adversity, usually self-inflicted in the the form of numerous penalties, they fold.
Lambert may ultimately be the guy to take the fall, somewhat rightfully so, but he's far from the main problem with this team. - eichiefs9
Rearranging deck chairs on the titanic tbh. They need an influx of youth and skill and they really don't have a good way to do it unless they have a fire sale. I don't see teams wanting these deals with all the term on them either so it seems like an issue. I also don't think ledecky knows poop about hockey he's just an owner with pom poms and malkin seems to be the boss but who knows if he cares as he has his hands in many other things |

Ledecky should at least do a Google search on possible GM candidates. He can at least do that. Do I really need to talk to him again?

Maybe lou is in a vegetative state like Biden - Upstate_isles
Funniest thing about Biden is everyone is like he’s to old now. He has been like this for 6 or 7 years. This isn’t something new. You voted for this guy for president. Own it. Stop making pretend this is some sudden onset of old age.
Apologize in advance for political post. |

Maybe he’ll make himself coach then fire himself when he realizes the lineup he keeps extending isn’t that great. |

Good old catch 22. The Isles need changes badly but the guy in charge is a main reason why changes are needed. I don’t want this guy making anymore moves tbh. As much as I’m dying for a move it can’t come from Lou 🤣 |
