Agreed and I’ll add Romanov for a 23 yr old is making it look like losing that first rounder wasn’t so bad. It’s not all horrible.

Hopefully Bridge has some options if we get to see them.

There are definitely pieces to build around. The problem is how many of the players that need to go that have immoveable contracts. They can't afford to be including picks to facilitate deals anymore, now they need them desperately.

Engvall and Mayfield have exactly zero chance of being moved. Lee and Palmieri are close behind. I'm getting to the point where I'd probably look to move Pageau also, he's effectively an overpaid 4th liner at the moment.

May as well just call Iskhakov up at some point soon. Not like they'd be bumping some irreplaceable offensive juggernaut out of the lineup to find a spot for him. Nobody else in Bridgeport is really worth much of a look.

Iskhakov should be up. Maggio and Dufour not doing well?

JGP should have some value. Maybe bring up Maclean?

Not at $5M for this year + 2 more. Zero goals and 5 assists through 15 games.

MacLean and Liukas are probably the "future" of the 4th line, if that's even a term you can use when talking about your 4th line

Dufour has 1 goal and 3pts in 9 games and Maggio has a respectable 3 goals and 5 pts through 12 games. Nice to see for a first pro season, but he isn't remotely close to seeing NHL action

I thought it was mentioned Dufour improved his skating. That would be nice.

Yep these extensions and contracts already in place are going to ham string any kind of rebuild.

I’m sure if we continue on this path we’ll be seeing more of the bdgpt players…

In a Cap world and when you have trouble signing top UFA's you need to be able to count on internal options.

Anders Lee has 2 points in 15 games. Yyeesh. Only two more years after this one at $7M per. Engvall makes $3Mm thought it was $2, for 6 mor yrs. Mayfield makes $3.5M.

I hate to say it because I love the guy, but if (operative word here being "IF") they're going to blow it all up...Nelson would almost certainly have to be moved and I believe it would be a smart decision. He has good value with that contract active through next season and a very reasonable cap hit. Might be an offseason deal with the cap set to rise significantly next year, but I still think it would be smart if they're going to commit to a rebuild.

Just because we “have to” doesn’t mean we should. It’s not like we have some blue chips sitting down there.

Always been a fan but yeah 100% he gets moved. He probably has more value then anyone else on this team.

Nelson has been a good Islander, but he is not getting any younger.

His production and defensive play as compared to his salary is pretty good. The return would be pretty good for him.

If we are really out of it, you trading him at the deadline? He’d probably be the best scorer available from any team if we’re that bad.

We would have to unload salary in addition to his just so we could take back even more salary. I would guess that whatever team is taking him on is going to need to unload salary as well. Most likely more then his salary alone. His salary is only 6 million doubt very much it would be an even swap salary wise for a competitive team. Plus that would give us an even better return…

No question we would have to trade Nelson.

Wouldn’t be the first time. I believe he did that when he fired Lemaire no?
- Cptmjl

I think he did it a couple of times. The good thing would be that if the players had to play for Lou they may ask for trades.

Yeah, they're gonna be tough competition for the top spot. The Isles would seem to have just enough talent (especially in goal) to keep them in purgatory.
