Chicago’s video coach had better learn the rules.
- paulr

My thought at the time as well ... might want to hire a video coach with actual hockey experience.

->Other stuff ... and Levy was on a roll all game- I think he mistook Philips in the box for poor Kaiser (who was being labeled as called for a 3rd time), confused Reichel and Kurashev because ... well - it is all numbers based - the uniform numbers were close ... still, i imagine he's overpaid for what he brings.

->> My guess is Cirelli might have a broken wrist, it depends on what sort of gear he wears there - if nothing, he'll have been in trouble, as the glove's don't protect that part of the wrist anymore. Back in the day - they cuffs used to be a lot bigger - but you know ... wrist movement cut that part of the glove to nearly non-existent, and it doesn't take a lot to break your wrist with contact there ... ok, you don't need to know my entire catalog of injuries, but I might have had a little clip with a stick blade in that same spot ... and ... well, yeh ... it wouldn't have looked like much, but that's all it took.

Buchigross put it well, something along the lines of both teams happy with the loss- TB wins after losing two and the Hawks lose but play hard and compete for another high draft pick- Celebrini and Bedard the new Kane and Toews.

Ultimately, isn’t it Ricardson’s call as to whether to challenge or not? He has an iPad to look at too.

My only gripe is when we had a chance at a shorty Point took down Richardinson, no call, then Point scored on the PP. Other than that we mightily struggled with possession again.
- BetweenTheDots

Exactly - there were large periods of 5 on 5 where the Hawks ended up playing what amounted to a PK box in it (ok maybe a pentagon on it)... their break outs were awful, and Bedard running around in the midst of that sort of thing is not overly effective; to be effective I think he needs to work out the best places to be a zone breakout option. Of course the other team is going to be aware of that. Zone breakouts in general seemed a little off in timing.

Pulled goalie with Bedard on the ice at this point has more often than not resulted in a collective -1 for anyone on the ice. Not laying it on him, but just saying that that standard tactic when down in a game has generally not resulted in anything positive, and normally not even neutral.

Stuff to work on.

At least they strung 2 of something in a row. Ok game, a little frustrating, because it sorta was there again.

I'm pretty sure that no one on the Hawks is happy with a loss. Obviously, they aren't built, or expected, to win, but no one from the players to the GM is happy with a loss.

I think the new term is "It's part of the process"

And I take issue with the GM not being happy with a loss. Since he has taken over, his goal has been to construct the roster to be as pathetic as possible.

I have to say i thought Phillips had his best night as a Blackhawk defenseman, 1st period was a bit rough but got better and better in the game. He makes some nice little passes in the defensive zone for sure.

I know the games fast but a thing that drives me nuts is the game winning goal against Kurashev gets possession in front of the goalie net and instead of using Bedard like a blocker to skate the puck he does this cute little quick pass to Bedard who is 2 feet away from him gets all caught up in the feet of the players then ends up being a turnover. The cute quick passes with guys covered happens way to much for this team.

Probably one of the reasons why Richardson keeps saying Reichel needs to shoot more. It's going to be great when he finally gets the message and just peppers the net.

No, that would be San Jose.

I really don't think he was trying to put a bad roster on the ice. You are right that he didn't necessarily try to ice a playoff team, but he wasn't shooting for another top pick. The whole point of this year was to get the young guys experience and see improvement. So yeah, not happy with a loss, but not necessarily unexpected.

Agree.

SJ has a pitiful roster even worse than ours last year. It is like an AHL team.

Even with our not ideal roster, it is exciting watching Bedard, Reichel, KK, Vlasic and Kaiser. The point of the season is getting experience, developing and winning a game here and there.

The Hawks are thin, but I think they are a near .500 team with Hall. Need to look at their record with and without him to quantify this though, just a feeling. Just adding him instantly improves the offensive output greatly. Talk about parity.

That was the Phillips I saw in the couple of exhibition games I saw him in. I also think he handled his off-side very well along the boards.

And most importantly, LR liked his game. I'd guess we get to see at least 2-3 more games of four prospects playing as I don't see Tinordi, or Zaitsev back anytime soon. We'll see if Roos gets in a game. I'm actually wondering if they sit Kaiser down for a game so he can regroup a bit.

I would like to know if Roos has played in a pair with Phillips; even a tad familarity with your defense partner could be a positive development. I would not mind allowing Kaiser to rest abd watch 1-2 games. But I would not rush into getting both Phillios and Roos into a gane, and I don't know if Richardson would choose to make them a pair. Putting a veteran with a rookie/newbie is often a preferential choice

I know LA Hawk fan might groan right niw, and say jhawk wants to see all his underdog prospects get an opportunity

Sure won't deny BUT realisticly what peeks ny curiosity is the two facts about Roos.

He was an low cost free agent find and sign with some top Swedosh league experience. He is.a puck mover with maybe a good all around game. When he receiced a look in training camp last season behold he made the team. Looked ok furst game or two then was a healthy scratch. When he git back in a couple of timed, hus game wasn't solid.. i et one of his issues was confidance. Transition to NHL is not often real smooth but for a few and know tgat I mean immediate transition.....no minior league apprenticeship or a couple of training camp and summer camps to help.acclimate to the NHL pace

When I asked wuz why he thought Roos made tge team - he was and still is a but if a mystery player who flew under the radar! - wiz said because they saw enough in camp to know he can play

In fact Roos' contract allowed him to quit, gi home if he was demoted to Rockfiord. Yet he choose to get in playing time in North America by playing in the AHL

I do not know exactly.if his contract was renewed or extends thtough this season. I would love ti see him play well and force Kauser to play a couple months AHL. The kicker is if Kaiser returns.and can play steady maybe pair with Vlaskc.

I could care less of Murphy or Jones get their feelings hurt should they go to third pair. Let them know tgar rookies whi show well well at least get a look on a top two pair. In this rebuild priority has to be given to prospects development.

Now i am not predocting but am.hopeful for Roos' success. I know he has to get in a game but if he dies he is a smooth good skater with pro experience albeut most part a coupke or so swasins oversea. I don't think he gets overwhelmed

Hey LA Hawk Fsn Roos is not highly touted like Ckarke for Kings. But he is somewhere between mild mandered CLARK Kent but not clark kent aka Superman. Hipe he gets a look

Roos is 24, the Hawks have 6 defenseman between the NHL and the A younger than Roos that are rated higher, and all are left handed like Roos.

IMO only reason Roos got the call up, is the Hawks want to keep del Maestro and Allen playing heavy minutes in the A all year. Roos is just filler for when Tinordi or Zaitsev come back.

Roos is in the category of Mitchell and Regula. Down on the depth charts, and hopefully can be used as an add on for a trade.

With Hall they have another legitimate top six, and I’m going out on the limb and say that they add another top six this offseason, which will make them more competitive for sure, although probably not a playoff team. One more year of experience for the team they iced last night, plus another two top six(Hall included), and you’ll see a very entertaining team LA, patience. Also, another two first round picks to add to the prospect list.

Blackhawks lines in practice:

Foligno-Bedard-Kurashev
Hall-Reichel-Raddysh
TJohnson-Richardinson-Perry
Donato-Entwistle-RJohnson

So what did Katchook do wrong last night? He made a nice play to Richardson that ended up as Perry's goal.

I mean a grand total of 15 shots on goal, but lets roll out the same line-up (except Hall for Katchook).

I know, and just think our only top 50 prospect 3 years ago was Reichel.

Now it looks like we have a few more in there since KD took over, Bedard, Moore, Nazar, Korchinski

On top of that we get all these little nuggets from our draft picks doing well in their respected leagues.

They have a lot on nice looking prospects all over the place, with plenty of picks in the top 100 pool the next 3 years.

The first 14 games are in the books, and they went 5-9. It included Bruins twice, Vegas twice, Panthers twice, and Lightning twice. And single games against Toronto, Colorado, and New Jersey. The other three were the Yotes, Pens, and Habs. The goal differential was -13, and -7 of that was against the Yotes.

It's not like the rest of the schedule is easy, but it won't be as brutal as the first 14 games, and the rout in Arizona should have reinforced that nobody can be taken lightly. Bedard got 13 points in those first 14 games. He should be able to improve on that rate. Let's see what happens.

Yeah, I don’t get it, no way R Johnson should play over Katchouk, must be something going on there, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s moved before year end.

Per Ek, "One source confirmed to me that Kane MAY also be open to a possible return to Chicago….to play with and mentor Connor…”but that would have to mean that several other teams would fall short of Patrick’s demands…”

After KD's comments, this is highly unlikely but man it would sell tickets.

Slow rumor day? Anyways if Kane did want to come back, you can be sure it would be leaked to the press. Think Faulkner and Danny would want the negative publicity of KD saying no?

Looks like he will start vs the Preds as well.

Comparing him to Crow and Lundqvist, we'll see.

My reply isn't about your comment specifically, but I see the CHGO guys and a few others all happy that Blackhawks prospects are scoring in their respective junior leagues.

And I understand that it is better to have a prospect scoring and making an impact etc... but when I see Lardis putting up pts in juniors...big...deal...the kid is probably 19,he should be putting up pts vs 16/17/18 year olds.
Every team in the NHLhas a few prospects that are 19 and "being productive"
