Hawks trotting out 4 rookie defensemen tonight. Should be interesting. |

"The good news is that no one is listening to Chris Vosters; however, the bad news is that that means it's more than likely going to be Leah Hextall as part of this broadcast crew."
One of your best lines ever, Zach. |

It’s hawkey season?
You wouldn’t know with these ridiculous gaps between games and then you can’t even watch the games.
Way to get the fans into the product early on NHL
Without Bedard you would have no idea the Hawks are around to follow and would be foresaken to Bears suckage.
Would love to watch some hockey! Any week now… |

Yeah, don't like those ESPN+ games either. Hawks' schedule gets busier starting tonight. They play games bascically every other night from now to December 23. I think I counted 20 games from now until then. Bedard should be closing in on 30 goals by then. LOL |

Hey Rick.
I'm not a proponent of Blackhawks making any big splashy trades. There might be a big free agent sign and or a major trade when the team is much better. The timetable most likely two or more years away
In a story about KD masterplan a major point reportedly is that he would find a way to sign Mathews. My conjecture was merely players i like who i would want if i was Torinto GM. A retool by Leafs should be to re -do their blueline crew which includes adding young dmen (coincidentely stocked by Chicago)
The Leafs aee good but not good enough to advance far in playoffs. As mentioned on this board the Leafs style of play, their mindset/strategy + weakness in goal and on defense will continue to be their downfall
FYI DelMastro and Allen has been a pair in Rockford this season. Allen moves to right side.
DelMastro says two things have a tremendous impact on him at pro level. Quickly advancing puck to forwards and accepting that he cannot use his [physical] strength always at this level insofar as to leverage or win puck control - which leads to making a play.
These two rookies are roomates off ice
Who knows if they would receive opportunity to play as a rookie pairing in the NHL
I am more excited about their future than I Phillips

That Quinn Hughes has some ridiculous dance floor moves. I think he rivals Travolta. |

Even with Bedard, we are still unknown. Last Thursday I went to the Ale House in Lombard to watch the game with some buddies. No exaggeration, every one of their 5 gazillion TVs had the Bears/Panthers game on. I had to ask someone to put the Hawks/Bolts on one of the Bears TVs. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed watching both teams win. |

This might have been mentioned before, but I wonder if Davidson tries to sign Ethan bear when he is ready from injury? |

I had that thought a few weeks ago. And now they could use a veteran like Bear if Zaitsev is out a while with his personal problem. The alternative is to use 4 rookies every game with a 5th (Roos) rotating in. We'll see how that line up works out starting tonight. |

Why not? Zaitsev is no better than the practice pylons they use. Maybe they should bring up JHawk's favorite Crevier, he would be a much bigger pylon.

Which is why I would like to take a run at Bear. They can play him and waive Zaitsev when he gets back from his personal business. Heck if Bear plays decently at RD, maybe Murphy becomes trade bait. Then you're back to having 4 kids in the lineup.

We might see two rookies in a pair although I would expect this occurs later this season. Talking DelMastro/Allen who have bern a pair in Rockford. And one day we could see Korchinski with Allen. They have experience as a pair in junior.
More experience in the AHL will help these kids - after all they are merely rookie professionals.
Two seasons ago the Kings had some injuries and Tr Yawney coached up a blueline with lots of youth right into the playoffs. So i figure good coaching makes a difference. Playing two young guys on a pair is not ideal obviously but it can be done.
Keep it simple and try to keep the young guys in a pair where they can do the things they do well and not trying to impress by doing too much. Colorado has employed their prize young dman wisely the past couple seasons.
Some dmen may blossom.later on while others still struggle. Look at Forsling and Boqvist. So be careful not to ask them to do too much. As a farther reference someone on this board gave an example how Dean successfully coached a few young dmen in Boston. |

I was just pulling your chain a bit J Hawk on your previous post.
I'm not saying Mathews becoming a Blackhawk is impossible, but its pretty close to that. Next season he becomes the highest paid player in the league and he is legitimately one of the top 5 players in the league. Guys like that rarely switch teams and only after they become UFAs. Mathews is signed with the Leafs thru this season and 4 more after that. By the 26/27 season, KD will be paying Bedard at least as much as Mathews, probably more than that if things unfold as expected.
I want to believe Hawks management has a real viable long range plan in place and right now that would not include trading for another superstar and stripping down the farm system to do it.
The clock is ticking on teams who have been at the top of the table trying to win a Cup - Pittsburgh, Toronto, Edmonton, Tampa, Dallas, Boston. If building out the roster is properly managed, the Hawks time to contend won't be far off.

It also gets exciting when Kaiser is out there with Tinordi or Zaitsev, must be Kaiser’s fault. |
