All I said is that was a nice run and lots of fun.

So much bragging right?

- Scabeh

The Habs made it out of the first round and went on a surprisingly deep run. That was better than a lot of teams that year. If the Coviddy circumstances made it easier as the haters say, then why didn't their teams go deep and win?

Teams measure their status as contenders by how deep they go in the postseason. Winning it all is the goal, but getting as far as you can is a measuring stick of how far the team has to go in terms of improvements.

Leafs finally broke out of the first round and then died. It shows that some improvement was made and the team is moving in the right general direction. It also shows that the team has a good ways to go in terms of improvements to win it all. A deeper run this season shows more progress. Failing to qualify or getting flushed out early again would be proof of the opposite.

Yeah, all that really matters to some is the Cups. Show me the hardware. But, it's not right to suggest that deep runs are meaningless if they don't end in a championship.

I've said this before that I was on the "draft Wright" boat in 2022.

But I'll wait a few years until judging either picks. Maybe you turn out to be right, maybe you won't.

- Scabeh

Its not really about this.

Its just they put themselves behind the 8 ball early on their recent 1st and 5th round picks.

The picks were scrutinized when they were made, and rightfully so.

They both have proven to this point that the scrutiny was correct.

Rienbacher reeks of KK...which hey its nice to have a KK on your team, but with a top 5 pick you want a game changer.

Slaf I have no confidence in. If NHL players were allowed to go to the olympics Slaf goes later. Habs fell for the hype, which falls on the scouting staff.

Nonsense.

Many players took a few years before hitting their stride and become legitimate stars.

Reinbacher was drafted 3 months ago ffs, actually got injured early on this season too.

Nothing has been proven. Nothing.

The pick was bad to begin with.

He has to prove people wrong, and he hasn't.

Until he does it his still a bad pick.

Has anybody said he needs surgery? None of the games missed since 2019 have been hip issues. Unless things are really bad, taking the rest of the year pretty off will be a big hit on his career.
- Canada Cup

I haven't seen anything about surgery, just that he hopes it doesnt nag him all season.

Him saying an injury that has bothered him his whole career hit rock bottom is not a good sign

Its pretty obvious both picks were not good.

The Habs scouting staff is concerning.

And then 2 years after that one.

Yes. Let's do that.

Then we'll see if he turns into a good player or not.

Until then, it's just noise.

I’ve seen quotes about feeling optimistic but haven’t seen the one about rock bottom. Unless things are much worse than they seem I’d be surprised at any lengthy LTIR.

Edit

Found the quote where he said hes always been able to handle but it hit rock bottom.

I keep asking myself the same question.

Who'd be Team Canada's goaltender? We used to always be so deep at that position with Roy, Brodeur, Luongo, Price...

Now? Who?

Carter Hart? Good lord.
