Am driving to VA, so listened to the game. 2 observations:

1. Radio feed sucks. Kept cutting out. To be fair, my Nextel flip-phone MlGHT need to be replaced. Sirius used the OTT for broadcast. They suck.

2. With these slow starts.....meh. Ya know what? Screw it. These guys are living by the skin of their teeth right now. Woods was saying "oh, coulda been 3-0 DRW if a few lucky bounces..." blah blah blah. If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle. This team need a swift kick the butt (what I WANT to say is nowhere near as nice but I respect Jeremy too much....). Reimer stunk the joi.....nah. face it:
Keep playing this way and we're gonna start losing fans at a greater pace.

Working from the office tomorrow, hoping for better radio coverage and a miracle start-to-finish effort. It better happen soon.

Signed, really pissed off fan :/

I love the comeback, but does anyone have a solution for these starts?

How many games in a row now that they had no business of even getting a point, but got some because other teams stopped playing with the leads?

Uuuummmmm ALL of them?!?!?!

Seriously, they've pretty much hammered out how to come back from a whoppin', which is a good thing, will serve them well down the road. What they need now is to get a full 60min of game play.....

Good comeback, let's not make this a habit anymore than it already is.....

They've been extremely lucky so far, but it will run out eventually.

Nylander is due for a big raise with how well he has played, and it appears that the Maple Leafs are willing to give it to him. We will now need to wait and see if these ongoing talks lead to a new deal between the two parties in the near future from here.

They must expect the cap to go up at least $7M !!!!!!

I remember when this team was a near lock to blow a small lead in the 3rd period, for years, they ruined so many games late.

Now it's a reversed frustration with these first period disasters, half the game the team is great and looks like they could make playoffs, but the first half they look no different than the last 10 years. That wasn't the case the first 5 games or so, but those are always a wild crap shoot.

Team is still sitting in a solid position, but they gotta figure out how to score in the opening period and keep the other team from piling on.

Most of the people on this board said the Wings wouldn't be a playoff team this year, especially after their FA signings this summer. As recently as last March, the Wings were still trading away assets for draft picks. Had they been close to being a playoff team, they would have been trading draft picks for talent. Had they been close, Hronek would not have been traded. I suspect he was because management felt by the time they are ready to compete, Hronek will have served his purpose.

They got off to a hot start this year and the bar was raised by the fans. Now anything short of the playoffs is a bust and some are already calling for a coaching change.

I want the Wings to win as bad as anyone, but they just aren't there yet. They flat out don't have the talent. The goalies they've drafted aren't ready yet. They've got high draft picks that aren't ready yet. They're expected to make progress now and be out of the lottery, but as far as competing in the Atlantic, that's just not going to happen yet. They are above 500 right now, but you'd be a fool to think they'll finish ahead of Toronto, NJ, Car, TB or even Buf, as they are now.

Given the Wings awful team defense and goaltending... at best they have a shot to get the last wildcard spot... we'll see

Did anybody else notice Reimer "ducking" so the puck wouldn't hit him on the overtime goal ?? I replayed it a couple times. If he'd just stood up the puck probably would have bounced off him... or he could at least have tried to get his body in front of it... Good grief... Another soft goal at the worst time.

Let's hope that Lyon has a solid outing despite not having any game time this year. Maybe by some miracle the Wings will finally have a good first period... but I'm not optimistic.

Jeremy..on a separate topic, curious your take on the Johnson, Petgrave situation and if you'd heard Roenicks comments....

Former NHL player Jeremy Roenick has shared his thoughts on the Snipes and Stripes Podcast about the recent incident involving Adam Johnson and Matt Petgrave. Roenick expressed his uncertainty about Petgrave's mentality in the situation, questioning whether he intended to inflict pain or simply stop Johnson.

Regardless of the intent, Roenick emphasized that Petgrave's decision to kick his leg high enough to hit Johnson in the neck area was a significant mistake.

Roenick firmly believes that the authorities made the right call by bringing charges against Petgrave for his actions. In his view, the incident warranted serious consequences, and holding individuals accountable for their actions on the ice is essential to maintaining the integrity of the game.

Roenick's perspective underscores the importance of addressing such incidents and ensuring that players are responsible for their behavior both on and off the ice.

I haven’t. Our attention is spread a little thin right now but I’ll take a look. I know that Roenick has no problem speaking his mind on pretty much anything

On the "homer" Sens broadcast they noted Reimer ducking as well and figured he was ducking - not the puck - but Stuzle's stick blade coming right at his face.

I didn't really notice Stutzle's stick being that close to Reimer. I'd have to watch the replay again... I didn't think the stick was that close to Reimer to warrant ducking to avoid it... from the angle that I saw the play. I'm wondering if Reimer misjudged how close the stick was and simply reacted. I still think he should have made that save though.

Well look at that... Wings didn't give up any goals in the first. Lyon looks pretty sharp so far. Fingers crossed he keeps it up.
