Exactly
Which is why tree has been adamant (according to reports) that he will not let willie walk for nothing. Sign, trade or sign and trade at the end of season

But we'll see.

I don't think we have LTIR space left after Murray and Muzzin. Just checked, 1.6 left.

Relief $0 $12,812,500
Usage $0 $11,215,001
Remaining $0 $1,597,499

- systemtool

That just means the Leafs are using 11.2M of the 12.8M relief they have.

They sent down Benoit and McCman contracts to make room for Timmins 1.1...they just haven't activated him yet.

I obviously have absolutely nothing to say about this.

The two bolded are practicing with the leafs but are still technically Marlies, and with Timmins back they don’t have the cap space “yet” to bring them up, this afternoon or tomorrow could be interesting.

Yes. My point was that we won't be getting Klingbergs.fully salary in relief but just like a 3rd of it.

I can't help but think the Leafs are responsible for this.

Exactly. And finally a normal break down showing who the gimp is.

Spoiler, it's not Reaves. Sorry AW, you lose.

I don't think that's allowed.

I'm googling for a definitive answer.

They would get the full relief.

That 12.8 number is the relief from Murray and Muzzin...and they are not using that 1.5M at the moment.

IF Klingberg goes on LTIR that 12.8M number goes up 4.1M.

Simmonds did it all last year.

I’d guess that moving them off the roster and activating Timmins brings them closer to the cap limit which is optimal for putting Klingberg on LTIR.

I don't think they ever sent him down to the Marlies - just had him clear waivers.

IIRC, of course.

But it would be available for use as we expanded the team's active salary to the cap ceiling. There's no LTIR upper ceiling limit - so if Muzzin and Murray and Klingberg were all on LTIR, there is a pool of up to $14.46m that they can dip into. Now they are already dipping into it, obviously, but if Timmins and Liljegren come off of LTIR and Klingberg goes on, that's your $1.6m swing (Lilly is $1.4, Timmins is $1.1, and Klingberg is $4.15) - so we could have room to make an acquisition depending on the severity of the injury.

I completely get it. Glad I understood it wrong, this is a much better situation. Kucherov and the 18 million over the cap just came to mind.

You RC. For a least part of the year, he was waived, practiced with the Leafs but was not on Marlies roster

Still googling, but it looks like (at least for a while) he skated with injured Leafs instead of practicing with the Marlies.

Not sure if he continued to practice with the Leafs while in limbo (I don't think he ever actually reported to the Marlies after clearing waivers both times).

He practiced with Leafs as Dubas tried to find a trade for him.

Coincidentally, neither McMann nor Benoit are showing on current Marlies roster. They were likely waived of Leafs to get close to cap limit to put Klingberg on LTIR

Nah, I got the info I needed. NOT.REAVERS.FAULT

(I'm guessing it says Reaves sucks. I don't want to hear Reaves sucks. I will not read Reaves sucks. I like Reaves.)

I refuse to believe a 5m TOI guy is the cause of the Leafs losses. Tavares, Kampf and the soft as slime D gets my vote.

Go Reaves!

Thanks.

It's weird - I thought that was not allowed. Just one more thing for Canucks fans to complain about, I guess.

Seems to me this is just further proof Reaves will remain a healthy scratch.

If he was going to play on Friday, he'd be on the 4th line in practice.

The Leafs are 3-0 without Reaves in the lineup.

Doing simple math, if they keep him out of the lineup, they will finish the season with 152 points, and win the Stanley Cup in 16 games.

These are facts, so don't even bother trying to argue with me.

I was surprised as well and I’m guessing that this will either involve a delayed removal from LTIR for Timmins or they’re just waiting til they can get Klingberg onto it at the same time.

Maybe Reaves will retire early only to get hired as a DJ who plays tunes in the dressing room for $1.3 mill per season?
