This is huuuge! Even at 80% of his prime self, Kane will provide a massive boost to the Wings! More importantly, this move re-establishes Detroit as a prime destination within the NHL landscape. Mark my words if you wish, from this moment forward, the Wings have once again become a legit force in the NHL! It is now a self fulfilling prophecy! Well done Steve! WELCOME PATRICK KANE!! LGRW!!!

That’s what I was wondering. We know Larkin has been playing hurt. I’m not certain if they still need to open a spot via IR or player movement to finalize Kane

Now if the Wings sign new FA Corey Perry, this will officially become the weirdest day ever ( Chelios has held that one for quite some time… love ya, buddy )

Yeah, that whole Perry-thing just smells of "trouble". Hate to see him go through whatever it is he's dealing with. Hate to see it for ANYONE, honestly....

Now, as far as lines go, JT center 1 with Cat & Kane...Larkin is 1C when healthy. 2 is Veleno @ C (he MAY go to 1C, but probably not) with DP and Rayzor like you said. Now, I'd not be surprised to see the CCP line at some point (Compher, Copp, Perron) as they really clicked early on. 4th would be Kostin, Ras, & Sprong. Actually, ya know what; vlender for 3d & 4th lines because they're all decent players. Sprong's one of those guys you could slot in the 2d line to add some grit.

What hits the ice is going to be VERY interesting if Larkin's out for any amount of time. The good thing is, JT is just as efficient on FOW (I think he's actually better, not checked the numbers, too lazy 🤣🤣) and can drive play exceptionally well....doesn't have the speed of Larkin, though. Bergy coming up is an interesting move, but someone has to go to absorb Kane.

At some point, we have to look at the F make up to see who sits/goes. I think Fischer's gone, don't want to see it but Kostin may be gone as well. Not right now, just spit-ballin' about the TDL onwards....

Bringing in Kane may not be the huge push to the SCF in the immediate future, but I think it shows that The Captain's eatablished Detroit as a destination for players. The positive words about LaLonde and the coaching staff speaks volumes to potential UFAs and trade candidates. If Kane does come to us, what does that say to.....McJesus? Draisaitl (sp? Again, too lazy to look it up!!!)? Not saying Kane makes us a lock for those guys, but Kane-to-Detroit says more about the club in its entirety than anything else. Even if his hip is shot, the mere fact that he's said what he said is going to have a bow-wave affect across the NHL. I'm VERY excited to see what that down-stream impact is.

So Larkin is out both games this week. Will hopefully be back playing Saturday. Berggren is called up. Husso is starting in net tomorrow against the Rangers. I knew Husso would get the start even though Lyon has earned it. I'm guessing Lyon will start on Thursday against the Hawks. I'd like to be opimistic... but not with Husso in net.

The studio guys made a comment the other night that struck me: "It's Husso's net...: I cringed at that. I truly think, given the current G situation, the hot hand gets the nod. Just makes sense at this point. That's just me, mind you. Given we're paying Husso north of $5m, he needs to put more on the stat line, something a bargin-basement guy IS doing.

I’m trying to confirm something, but we’re at 23 players. I’m wondering if Walman will go LTIR retroactively or if a deal is in the works. It feels like something needs to be shifted around to finish off the Kane deal.

I will miss Larkin, but Compher is someone I look forward to watching every game now. It’s about time for me to give my Christmas “list” to my wife. I’m waffling between a new jersey or a guitar pedal.

Could be, now trade Reimer and Bergren to the Oil for McLeod to create a spot for Kane!

Walman is playing on Wednesday per LaLonde... so that's good news at least. Rangers have a 32% PP so the Wings better stay out of the penalty box or it's going to be a long night. Like I've been saying... they gotta use their speed and take away New York's time and space. Buffalo used their speed to beat the Rangers the other night as the Ranger's fans were commenting that the Sabres' speed was causing issues for the Rangers.

I've noticed a bit of a propensity for taking penalties at inopportune times.....and giving up goals because of it. Have got to stay outta the sin-bin, especially vs the Rangers. Walman coming back is a good news story, for sure.

Vancouver made a trade to clear up cap space. The Hronek trade worked so well for them, maybe they want to dance with Yzerman again.

I really hope signing Kane adds to our offensive depth. If he can even get to half of what he was during his prime in Chicago that will be good enough for me. Kind of funny all the negative comments about Kane now AFTER he signed with Detroit but not their team. I wasn't a fan of signing him at first... but I like Yzerman's low risk "show me" one year deal. If it helps put us in the playoffs then it's worth it. Maybe start him on the 3rd line and see how it goes from there. He's got to earn his minutes like everyone else and he seems aware of that.
