Overpaid for a guy that will not be around when it matters.

Oh well... we do not need the cap right now anyways.

Again, he is a back-up goalie at best, so that is an overpay.

Just because he is currently (possibly) our best goalie does not make him more valuable than he really is.

ok, but in 3 years, is he taking someone's chair? and 3M isn't a cap anchor at all for a goalie going into his prime.

I find it's a great deal that makes a lot of sense for all parties involved, but oh well.

He is there for the transition...not like the team is seriously challenging for a playoffs spot.

they have much bigger problems than goalies IMO, their PP sucks, their PK sucks, they are still a few years away from being decent IF their prospects develop as hoped. BIG IF

His underlying numbers since last season tell another story, despite playing behind a god awful team for most of last year.

Even the eye test shows a goaltender that's been incredibly steady over the same period and that usually gives his team a chance to win every game.

Take the Habs' goggles off.

He is average.

Not the goalie they will need when they are ready to win.

So you have an opinion that he won't be good enough, based on absolutely nothing. We're saying the numbers show a goaltender that's been at the very least right in the middle of the other starters despite playing behind a bad team.

But we're the ones having to take goggles off.

OK THEN.

His numbers show him to be average.

Nothing more, nothing less.

That is what I am basing my opinion on.

The average NHL salary is $3.5 million per year. The NHL salary cap is $83.5 million for the 2023-24 campaign. The minimum wage is $750,000 for the 2023-24 season.

So, being paid average wage then, no?

If you are paying your back-up goalie 3.5M per year in a cap world, then you are doing it wrong.

My opinion is he is a back-up goalie.

Others disagree.

Whatever.

Nah Fredo's already keeping an eye.

Otherwise I'm thinking Pete's Zoological Garden of Szczecin or the Czestochowa-Lloydminster's Cooperation Zoo.
