The bigger issue is really that it wasn't mistakes, or bad coaching, or bad refereeing. It was a reflection of fundamentals. Beyond our D-line, there is a gigantic mismatch between their offensive talent and our D and that is about as insurmountable as the future can be.

Anything can happen. You have to play the games. The Flyers can win the Stanley Cup.

That's hyperbole. The Eagles despite the loss today, are still a contender. Still among the league's best team. Does that need to be explained to you? What happened last year? Players get hurt, things change. Any given Sunday.

By all means though, go ahead and think the same applies to the Flyers.

Yes, the NFL is a week to week league but this D has been exposed. Dallas moved the ball on them the 1st match up, bur a split second cost them one TD and Dallas imploded with the game on the line....I dont see that happening again....these two teams offenses are really bad match ups for this weak D
- THE BLACK HAND

The defense has been exposed for a while. They've been very up and down. Still have beaten some good teams. Right now, the 49ers are the better team and you have to put them as the favorite in the conference. We'll see what happens in January.

Hurt's salary hit climbs by 100% next year and then 50% over that the year after. After that, it is Mahomes time where you can barely have 1 or 2 more stars because of very high salary hit.

This is the sort of game which completely changes organizational strategy. Slay is pretty good. But Bradberry is a pretty average cb now. Blankenship blows in coverage. Morrow is too slow. Nolan Smith and Nakobe Dean are huge disappointments so far. They will have to reevaluate their strategy of loading up in the trenches and leaving so little elsewhere.

You talked about it earlier. The Eagles could do a better job establishing a running game. I thought the play calling in the red zone and play packages the Eagles ran in the red zone sucked. Basically, just thinking they could win a one on one physical match up with AJ Brown. Settled for two field goals. The Eagles had a stop on one of the Niners drives but Sweat was off sides. Given them another shot. The Niners were clearly the better team but the Eagles can play better.

I agree. This team has to stop undervaluing linebackers. Weak at safety also.

When they are healthy they are the best team in the league. I think I remember someone saying that at the beginning of the week. No luck, no breaks...just a good ole fashion whuppin!

Is the gap between the two teams as large as today? Probably not.

But unless the runs are coming right down the A or B gap, we can't stop the run/pass to RB. If there are any screens, pulls, misdirections where our team has to go east-west, our LBs/safeties simply don't have the anticipation to read plays and react and fight through blockers. And they cannot stop the pass between the #s since forever. Given that, how do you stop guys like Deebo/McCafferty?

You can't.

So, unless there are injuries, I don't see how they can stop the 49ers.

The Eagles defense was embarrassed today. They simply didn't compete. This defense has holes but they can play better. How much better remains to be seen. They basically have you and I at linebacker. The Niners took advantage of that. The Eagles let them off the mat early. Have to regroup, and we'll see what happens in the playoffs.

Can the Niners stop Brown/Smith/Goedert? Two high powered offenses. Defense? Edge to the Niners.

Gap between Birds D and 49ers O >>> gap between Birds O and 49ers D is the point I am making.

Yes, which is why I posted edge to the Niners with defense.

Eagles pass defense was ranked 29th coming into this game today and that will most likely be worse now. That's an issue that probably isn't going away.

I think their offense lost the game. 2 long drives; field goals. 3rd drive no points, etc. Hurts was rattled, OL looked bad at times. Bottom line, you gotta score. The 49ers took the early hit and then remembered that they are the better team. No excuses, they are the better team. Better roster, coaching… they showed it. No shame in losing to a better team.

I posted the evidence in a later post that shows that it doesn't matter how close you look. You have no clue what you're looking at.

I agree that coming up with just two field goals in the 1st Q hurt them. However, I can't blame the offense over the defense.
