They shold have called up Lazynski or Marody. The 13th forward is just an emergency and will not play. Lycksell needs to play.... |

Part of the reason for call ups to to throw the players a bone and make some quick cash for performing well. Nothing wrong with an extra 10K per game. Usually the flyers do that at the end of the year. give some different players some money. Gestures like that go a long way in the players eyes.

TU Bill,
think they will ever sit ND and give Lycksell a chance. Are the Yotes a fast team, where more skill on the 4th line would be helpful?
ND, to my eyes was really exposed in the Pens games, if not for Carter Hart, probably some goals to go along with his ice time. |

totally agree, ND had chances to get off the ice and didn't do it, and it would have cost the team the game if it wasn't for Hart. I watched the Yotes the other night and they are a good team that plays really fast. Logan Cooley is a dangerous player. |

Hey Bill, on Clay Travis’s podcast, he had Steven A Smith as his guest the other day and Smith mentioned something interesting. When Smith got dropped by ESPN in 2007, he had agent Steve Mountain help him out and get him a job at Fox Sports. Is Mountain still an agent with a bunch players on the Flyers and do agents have that kind of pull with tv networks? I’ve heard Mountain’s name mentioned before with regard to representing Flyers, but the name drop caught my attention. |

If the flyers aren't ready to play this game, they will get blown out. Zona is a fast young team. Too bad they play in an arena that is minor hockey sized.. haha what a farce.. |

The PHD line had a very rough time on Monday against the Penguins. Flyers will practice today, so we'll see if Lycksell is the extra forward or part of regular reps. I suspect the former.

Steve still owns the agency but his son Bryan does the representation nowadays. Steve represented, among many others, Rick Tocchet and Ron Hextall (after Hexy fired Ritch Winter). |

Understood, but they are not playing him in place of a veteran. Another youngster will be scratched. Under Totorella there is only so much room for youth |

Would anyone be surprised if Frost was out and Lycksell in? |

No I wouldn't. Also Staal's 11 minutes and change of ice time and being stapled again to the bench in the final 5 minutes of the 3rd period with the game on the line was just too good to remove and get Zamula back in.

Being that Lyksell is a winger I'm not sure even Torts could justify shuffling out Frost for him, but I also wouldn't be surprised. |

If not Frost, it will be Brink. Nic D is a core player in Tort’s eyes.
Watch how Arizona plays, they are all about speed and puck possession. I wish we had a coach like Tourigny instead of the arrogant dino we’re stuck with. |

I thought Brink, Frost and Tippett had a good game on Monday. Who knows with Torts though |

I’m concerned about the size of their balls. |

That's why I think we are going to get pumped in this game. Vs the Caps, they were just flying. |

It wouldn't surprise me if Cates was available, where he'd go back to center and Lycksell would be in on a wing. But Lycksell hasn't played center in a long time, and even then was primarily a winger. So I wouldn't expect that Lycksell comes in for Frost. But with Tortorella, I don't know. |

and that is the rub with Torts, I am good with his want to build a winning culture, hold players accountable, I am even ok him icing some vets to win, the team does deserve the best chance to win, that is his job as a coach first and foremost but you sit Frost, rotate Brink and allow a knuckle dragger like ND to play. Clearly does not give the team the best chance to win, the contradiction is clear and it makes Torts dishonest.
As long as they are playing well, winning their fair share, the log jam continues in the playoff race, Torts will get away with it.
2 season Lycksell has led the way, kid deserves this shot, play caveman vs big teams but give Lycksell the majority of the reps.

Has anyone asked Torts why he gave Frost no shifts in OT? It would seem Frost is tailor made for OT.
Just curious as to his reasoning. |
