Why don't you marry Dumba if you love him so much?

Arizona is currently in the first wild card playoff spot and is now looking to trade a RD playing 20 minutes a game for them so he can go to another team and make a playoff impact. Why isn't Arizona just keeping Dumba so he can make a potential playoff impact with them?

Dumba couldn’t elevate his game in his contract year with the Wild. He hasn’t been the same since he tore his chest muscle in a fight over 5 years ago. His offense has disappeared. Dumba no longer has Brodin to carry him. There should be interest next year at $1 Mil/ 1 yr.

Unfortunately true. His best season was 2018 at age 23. Got injured the next year and never returned to his 2018 form.

Even on a flawed Wild team, there are 4 defensemen better than Dumba. I agree. They will keep him at least until their playoff status shakes out.

If Dumba is out of synch on a well oiled team like Arizona, then technically he's not much help elsewhere.

Huh? He has 2-2-4 in 23 games, a 37 CF% in all situations (his all situation CF% is actually lower than 5v5 which must mean he's getting practically no PP time) and he was healthy scratched about 10 days ago. I find it very difficult to believe he's a hot commodity or that 5 teams are interested in him.

Didn't Guerin make every effort to dump his expiring contract last year with no takers? Those were the reports at least.

Ek is an idiot and AZ isn’t looking to trade him. He has been terrible, from what I’ve seen so far though.

Keeping Dumba (and other D) was the reason for gifting Alex Tuch to Las Vegas.

Guerin resembles Sakic/McFarland in that he plays things close to the vest. People around him don’t leak like the Effbeeaye or the Seeayeay. No one knew about the buyouts yet Guerin implied he made the decision as soon as he got there.

Guerin said he wouldn’t sell Dumba unless he got equal value. I think he could have easily got a 2nd for him before last season. Who knows, maybe some sucker offered a 1st and he passed. Remember, the Wild were coming off a 113 point season. They had one more crack at winning a series or better before entering cap hell. The market apparently wasn’t there where he could get replacement value for Dumba.I wouldn’t be surprised to see Guerin sign Dumba next season if he gets a home town discount.

That's an excellent feature in a GM, I've come to really appreciate it with SakFarland. I'll know not to put much stock in reports on what Guerin is up to.

I also don't put a huge amount of stock in connections between players but after Drouin ended up here I wouldn't be entirely shocked if Dumba did also given how tight Makar is with his family. Charlie Dumba coached Cale's (and Matt's) youth team, the Crowchild Blackhawks, in fact I believe Gary Makar and Charlie Dumba coached it together at one point. Doesn't mean he'll ever be here but, like I said, I wouldn't be shocked either.

(This is called a rumor gift for you EK, kind of like when I told you everyone in CO knew Duchene was going to sign with Nashville when you said that him going back to Ottawa was 'clearly the frontrunner').

Dumba was very popular with his teammates. He was one of the captains. He was active in the community.
When he got benched last year his teammates were angry and play deteriorated. The team played really hard for him after he was back in. He was at the top of his game at the time of that injury. Very unfortunate for Dumba and the Wild.

No thread for this so I’ll say it here. I HATE ESPN. Instead of hockey games at hey put basketball on. Hockey is relegated to tnt. Unless you pay more and get their app. (frank) espn.

This is the worse kept secret in the NHL. Dumba and a 1st round pick to Buffalo for Kyle Okposo. Arizona goes on to win the Stanley Cup after making Kyle the captain of the team immediately after the trade.
Goes down as the biggest trade GM Adams makes in his career
