Good blog!

Who needs a Stanley cup ring when you have a ring of honour?

Thanks Yorkie!!
The Ring of Not Winning is my favourite thing about the Canucks, that and those putrid skating downhill jerseys.

In the past week I've seen TB play the Penguins, Predators and now Canucks. They look good in almost every game but the results aren't there.

They out played Van last night 5v5. Van's PK was good last night.

Lightning used to have some kind of mojo to win most types of games. That mojo is gone.

Part of it is the bottom six, which pretty much sucks now compared to the cup teams. Another part is that Hedman and Stamkos aren't getting any younger. Also, Cooper's playbook is a known quantity now.

Canucks were the better team and got the deserved result last night. Two or three years ago, the Lightning would have come back to force an overtime. Not now.

I didn’t watch the game, was at the Suns game with my daughter, but I’ll record it this morning on Center Ice and watch it after golf. Happy for Brock, kids been through a lot but it appears he’s putting in the work and effort to get back to his coring ways.

Roster definitely has a different feel outside their top 6. No Hedman is always helpful to other teams as well though.

Window might have closed.

Heck of a run though. The past six seasons have been really good hockey for the Lightning, including three Cup finals and two Stanley Cup wins. Canucks have never had a sustained period of success like that, sadly.

2018 - 113 points, third round playoffs
2019 - 128 points President’s Trophy
2020 - Won Stanley Cup
2021 - Won Stanley Cup
2022 - 110 points, lost in finals
2023 - 98 points, lost first round

Hughes-Hronek were one of the better pairs to start the season. Lately they have been like the team slowing regressing.

Out of D pairs to play 205 + minutes together now rank 39 out of 50th in expected goals. They were top after the first 15 games or so. In actual goals for/against they are 3rd.

When Soucy is healthy again, do they move Zadorov over to the right side to play with Cole?

Shows how early it is still.

Canucks projected at 102 points need to play .617 hockey to get to that number for the rest of the season. The Oilers projected at 99, only 3 points back will need to play .642 hockey to reach that 99 points but in the standings currently are 12 points back of the Canucks. (Van has played 3 more games)

Not sure how the Canucks are winning so much, they are playing Myers the 4th most at even strength. Must be luck.

The ring of honour is a silly gimmick, until Andre Boudrias gets placed in there.

Keep Myers at 20 or under is key! Great penalty kill, seems to be a focus and it is getting on track.

Tyler Myers TOI since joining the Canucks
19-20 21:30 Canucks win percentage .565
20-21 22:05 Canucks win percentage .446
21-22 21:59 Canucks win percentage .561
22-23 20:54 Canucks win percentage .506
23-24 18:54 Canucks win percentage .672

Play Myers less, win more seems to be the theme.

That was Zadorov's fault. He overcommitted up at the top of the circle creating a 2 on 1 down low. It was his man that scored.

I wouldn't expect you to know this though as you have to possess some actual hockey knowledge.

Thanks Yorky.

Good line of JTM Hog and Brock. It is turning into a very effective top line. The main part for me is I am enjoying the hockey this year. Last year it was disappointment game after game but this year hockey is fun again. Thanks for the blog. You are doing a really good job.
