Have to think that they will make a call on him being done for the year or not before the month of Feb leading up to the TDL, so they know how much cap space they've got to work with |

Unfortunately all of our childcare options (my mom and hers) are sick. The irony is they got sick from watching our kids. Goddamnit. I haven't been to a game since before COVID |

I sincerely hope he either comes back before then or the call is made before then to shut him down because we cannot continue to run out a 3rd line centered by Bonino |

If chytil is shut down we could trade for him with no salary retention needed fwiw. I can’t help but feel like he’d be underutilized in our lineup as a 3c though. Cheaper options like monahan might make more sense |

Guess it all depends on the market price for Monahan... If he's going to cost more than you'd expect due to the lower cap hit, maybe it's not as bad pulling the trigger on a Lindholm deal |

I can’t imagine that Monahan’s cost is close to Lindholm’s given his injury and production history. Plus lower cap gives us room to make moves elsewhere, like maybe a RW for Mika |

True, but who knows how highly cap space will be valued come this TDL. It will be tighter for all the buyers out there than ever before, and sometimes big trades these days are tough to interpret without knowing what the market price for cap hits/space is like |

The issue with getting Lindholm is that it allows us only to get Lindholm and nothing else. Atleast with Monahan, especially if we can get MTL to retain something, we still leave ourselves with a decent amount of cap space to get a 7th D and another RW. Also I dont like the idea of giving up all those assets for Lindholm and potentially not resigning him.
Heres what Im thinking...
Monahan & Xhekaj from MTL
...and we bring back Franky Wheels. |

Can play wing or Center and is a pending UFA. Price shouldn't be outrageous . |

I still do not understand why we are trading more capital to acquire Xhekaj, who either sits in the press box or moves Gus to the pressbox? Sure, Gus had a few down games, but so did the entire team. He’s been maybe our best defenseman not named Fox this season. I assume Jones goes in a trade for a C or RW and then we need a cheap, veteran 7d who can fill in for an injury if needed |

He’d be the 7th defenseman for now, Jones isn’t the answer especially come playoff time. |

He'd be wasted as a 7d and cost way too much... why not just get a cheap veteran? I'm just not following |

Xhekaj would be our cheap 7th defenseman. He would be the guy that would go and fill in for Lindy if he needs a day, Miller if he needs a day, Gus if he needs a day... you cant do that with Jones. You play Jones because you HAVE to, not by choice. Furthermore, Xhekaj would be our 3LD moving forward when Gus leaves in the offseason. |

Because youre not just getting a rental, youre getting a permanent fixture for the future when Gus leaves. |

We need to think about next year. Gus will be priced out most likely. Xhekaj would be perfect to replace him.
Lindgren Fox
Miller Trouba
Wifi Schneider
Is one heck of a d corp and gives you insurance if Lindgren would leave (not likely imo). Jones is a problem too. Hes just redundant with Fox because his best attribute is PP specialist. He’s small and can barely play defense |
