You have to identify the core players to build with. Hart will fit into any timeline at 25. He’s a creature of habit. He’s happy here as far as I can tell and as a RFA you can probably lock him up longer term under a real reasonable cap hit. Keep developing the goalie pipeline and your 1B’s can be on 900k contracts. Trade the erssons and keep backfilling with rookie deals

Once you pay Hart he is immovable. He isn’t elite IMO where I would commit to him like that. Besides I have seen more teams win a cup with an average goaltender with a great roster then I have seen teams win a cup with an elite goaltender and an average roster.

Red Wings clearly won the match up game in this game. Probably the most entertaining game I’ve ever been to live. I think I enjoyed myself for all the reasons many would hate. The fourth line was really looking for trouble and also found themselves on the score sheet. On the flip side to that coin, I feel like I saw too much of Nick D tonight and he is slower than everyone else. I agree that players like Walker and Farabee need to see time in OT. I don’t have a problem with Torts leaning on Risto heavily in this game. In fact I’m encouraged. I like Risto but I have to admit, he was put in positions tonight I was expecting him to disappoint in but he didn’t. He played very well. My issue with his OT decisions is maybe he leans too heavily on Konency and Couturier. Everyone else gets shifts in between them if they’re lucky.

Yeah, no.

That would be another Chuck Fletcher special. Cave on both AAV and years. Just have to toss in the NMC.

Why didn’t they pull Hart earlier in this game?

I'm not sure Risto and his 1 pt for the season screams offensive difference maker in OT. However, with Atkinson getting a shift and Farabee seeing no ice time, questionable decisions a plenty.

How could that be?...Torts is the Jack Adams winner don't ya know....!

If you take away his awful Covid year which is not an accurate representation, he has a career save pct of .911% playing in front of some horrendous teams. Vasilevsky has a career .918%. Inflations a female dog. This is not a crazy deal

Because after it was 5-1 he was playing with house money and no pressure. Just go out there and try to get your game on track after being sick and out for two weeks.

At least that is how I saw it.

You're out of your mind. There are only two active goaltenders in the entire league making 8M a year or more. Bobrovsky and Vasilevsky.

Ersson is a young goalie who has played a lot of games recently. He needs the rest and Hart needs the work with not playing for a bit. It was a no brainer to leave Hart in.

Yea. More about Hart actually getting a full game in before shutting down for a while.

I’m starting to look at Nick Seeler as the underrated warrior nobody talks about unless you watch Philly every night. I think he has a very Simmonds like mentality. I didn’t like him his first season. Now I love him. He’s the perfect example of winning a fan over.

He’s been the same hard nosed player since he’s got here. You just again can’t watch and evaluate a player in any sense. Nice of you to catch up.

Only saw the first period last night, but saw a lowlight of the goal that Hart gave up after the Flyguys took the lead. WTF! You caNNot give up that goal after your team busts their ass to take the lead. Probably should have put Errson in for the shootout although I guess it wouldn't be fair to bring a cold goalie in for that. If Hart wants that big contract he better start earning it! Yeah, I get it. He's been under the weather, but Errson is coming after your job! Bruins lose their third in a row and Montgomery is losing his grip on the Jack Adams! Torts team never give up!

Don’t even do this. A lot of people didn’t like Nick Seeler when he first got here.

Yeah, I mentioned that I realize he's been under the weather, but Errson is da man right now. He also appears to be much better than Hart at shootouts. I dunno...

In reality, Boston is 2nd overall in the NHL. Despite losing their top two centers from the previous season. Really losing his grip.

He is one of those guys that seems to have responded under the current coaching staff. A little late in developing, but does a whole bunch of things well. At the start of the year I thought for sure he was a 7th D and a trade candidate, now like yourself I’m not so sure. He’s a guy that plays a game that team mates love.

I think he’s been penciled in the 7th guy every summer (to fans) and proves us wrong every time.

Not a great game for Hart….but he settled in and allowed Flyers to get their footing as the night went on. Horrid goal to let in after Flyers had taken the lead, but he kept battling. Interesting the other day during the Snow the Goalie podcast Anthony Sanfilippo basically suggested he believes there are those in the organization that don’t want to give Hart that next big contract. He goes on to say that it has everything to do with Ersson and that many of the management view him as the future and already a starting goalie caliber. He believes that it will be Hart moved, but not this year.

It’s fun to see when a guy like that exceeds everyone’s expectations.
