That's because Tippets shift in OT was a long one. Really, your criticism of Torts is just so off-base, you continually embarrass yourself on this forum. Why do you even do this to yourself? Tort's reportedly read his team the riot act between periods and they came out and responded in a big way. Frost and Tippet got minutes in the OT, you are just looking for anything to complain about. Most teams, including your beloved Montgomery or Tocchet teams, would have wilted after the first period giving the Christmas break coming up but not this team, because Torts has built a standard and that standard does not tolerate quitting. This team is showing they are a playoff team and frankly I wouldn't want to play them in the first round. Torts is the Jack Adams award winner, just lick your wounds and accept your fate! You are wrong.

Now, if it were me, the player I don't want to see 3 on 3 is Couturier, at least not right now as he is fighting through some issues. He just can't skate and take advantage of the open ice. I would have York, Tippet and Frost as my starters and then follow up with Walker, Atkinson and TK with Couturier out there for the draw and then immediately to the bench.

You continue to show that you have a lack of the grasp of the facts and again, have made a fool of yourself. I stopped reading your foolishness at that point.

Tippett's shift in OT was 46 seconds.

as boosh pointed out, thats the flaw with that technique....sometimes the puck finds that spot
- THE BLACK HAND

Yes, but what Boosh did not mention is when the goalie goes down in that technique his hip has got to be tight to the post, and Hart's was not which is why that puck squeaked through. It was a bad goal but Hart more than made up for it during the game and into OT. The one area Hart is not good at is break aways or shootouts. He should hang out more with Ersson and learn a bit about how to stop shootouts.

That's a long shift actually, especially 3 on 3. The problem was during the OT Foerster got caught out there for a really long shift which screwed everything else up. I'm sure Tippet would have got out there again if it wasn't for the Foerster shift.

They would be foolish to just give the keys to ersson after this year. He might have 50 games under his belt? The right thing to do is to extend hart.
- Just5

The right thing to do is extend both of them. In this age of the NHL, one really good goalie is not enough. The cap is going up, nothing wrong with spending about $10M between two really good goalies. If the Flyers have others goalies in their system ready they can always trade them. Goalies do not generate as much return in a trade than a positional player, when you got two really good goalies you hang on to them.

You're wrong. If you actually paid attention, Boucher as a goaltender, is well aware of the RVH and it's weaknesses. What Boucher correctly stated, when in the RVH position, there are two weaknesses. One is above the shoulders in the top of the net and the other is right at the hip area. Where simply due to anatomy, there is a small gap in that area where a perfectly placed shot can squeak through. Where any controversy could come in is whether Hart should be in the RVH with the puck as far away from the net where Larkin shot from. Generally, the recommendation is that a goaltender should only be in the RVH when the puck is one to two stick lengths from the net. Larkin was farther away then that.

In summary, in your first two posts, you've shown that you have a lack of knowledge. A lack of grasp of the facts and flat refuse to learn or research the facts. There is plenty of information out there for you to learn from.

It's not a long shift. You're wrong. Again, you have a lack of the facts. A 45 second OT shift is average to below average. There was plenty of opportunity for a player like Tippett, the team's leading goal scorer to get more OT ice time in a game with a full 5 minute OT. Players like Atkinson and Foerster should not be getting OT shifts over Tippett. Konecny, Couturier, Tippett, Frost and Farabee should be the main forwards in OT.

No, let me summarize this following post right off the top. You are a moron!

I hate the RVH technique personally for exactly the reason you state, goalies drop into that technique way too easily when they don't have to. However you can absolutely seal the post with your body (listen to Jason Myrtetus in today's Flyers daily what he said about it, and he is a goalie!) or you can see this from the Athletic:

When it comes to sealing posts, the reverse vertical-horizontal (RVH) is a goalie’s preferred method, especially on sharp-angle, in-tight threats. A goalie slams the lead pad flush to the ice. The trail pad is cocked at a 45-degree angle. The lead arm is held tight against the post. When executed correctly, the goalie leaves no short-side daylight save for a slice next to the head.

Hart did not execute the technique correctly. Once again, stop embarrassing yourself!

The cap is not going up that much. There is no way the Flyers should be spending 10M on goalies. Another example of you having a lack of knowledge of the facts. Ersson has already been extended to a 2 year deal with a 1.45 AAV.

It is impossible to completely seal the post. There is always going to be some room there. It is a human game. You go ahead and listen to Mytetus over Brian Boucher who has actually been an NHL goalie. Goals scored against the RVH are scored at the hip area and up around the shoulder or the head area.

Yes, Ersson is signed for this year and next year. However Hart needs to be extended after this season and Ersson after next season. The cap is going up $4M next year, which is perfect for an Ersson contract, and will probably go up further the year after. So stop your nonsense, the only lack of knowledge on this forum is from you .. but what else is new?

Boucher was a goalie, but honestly not a very good goalie. And I showed you that what Myrtetus said today is backed up by the Athletic.

Again, incorrect. Ersson's two year extension does not kick in until the 24/25 season. This season is the final year of his EL deal.

By all means, keep on going jd.

Oh, so Boucher wasn't a very good goalie so you are dismissing his opinion. However, you are taking the opinion of Mytetus, who you say was a goalie. How good of a goalie was Myrtetus? Did he make it to the NHL like Boucher did? So how does his opinion matter when Boucher's is disqualified? Do you realize how stupid you sound? You don't, do you? There is theory and then there is practical on ice reality. You should learn the difference. Boucher does.

Boucher not being Roy, Brodeur, Belfour or Hasek doesn’t mean he wasn’t good.

Does Boucher still hold the NHL shutout record for games in a row?

Maybe for the team, but why would a guy, enter his prime, already showing starter quality in just his second year, sign for just $4 per. I would think that would be the starting point if he continues like he has through to the end of his current contract.

Not sure $10 million in goalies is cap space well spent.
