Canucks have more talent to be fair. - THE EVIL WITHIN
True and not disputing that, but NO coach has been able to get the current core in Vancouver to reach even the lowest of expectations, yet Tocchet comes in and they are first in the league. That falls on coaching. |

I vehemently disagree. The Flyers absolutely would not have to win the Metro for Torts to get a nomination. Completely wrong. If the Flyers make the playoffs Torts gets nominated. Hands down....book it Dano!! If the Flyers were to win a tough Metro division he basically is a shoe in to win the award! That Vancouver roster underachieved under BB for whatever reason. They have a much more talented roster than the Flyers. Thanks! - Phillywhiteout
I have to agree here. If the Flyers make the playoffs Torts will deserve a nomination. Whether he gets it will we shall see, but a nomination would certainly be warranted. If they win the Metro is would be a foregone conclusion. |

There is ignorance here, but it's shining off your bold head, not mine. At the end of the day Torts is doing more with much less. If the Flyers make the playoffs, he will win his 3rd Jack Adam's award and your failure will be complete. - jd250
You need to do some research and see what normally wins the award. You reinforce that you have no clue. Tocchet is no doubt the current front runner. This is reality, not your fantasy world. You tried to make the same BS excuses last year for why Montgomery didn't deserve the award and that Tortorella was the hands down winner. While I correctly predicted the winner. |

What a bunch of BS!! Torts absolutely knows how to coach a team as to how to be a good transition team, but he understand that this team does not have the speed and talent up and down the lineup to be only a high-flying transition team. And BTW, NO high-flying transition team has won the cup without also being a good forechecking team and good defensively. - jd250
No he doesn't and he never has. Tortorella has already exhausted his bag of tricks. Can you show me where I said that a team can win the cup without being a good forechecking and defensive team?
You have no clue about the coach that you worship. |

Care to make things interesting? - Pelle31Forever Any amount of scratch you want. If the Flyers make the playoffs Torts gets a top 3 nomination. Go for it! Of course, this most likely will be a moot point cause I still don't think they are making the playoffs.

It's not a guarantee that he gets a nomination if the Flyers make the playoffs but he'll definitely get some consideration. There are other teams and coaches that are in the same position and same rate of improvement. Tortorella at this point in time, does not stand above them. It is equal. How it plays out, remains to be seen.

I'm not sure to what other teams you are referring, but the Flyers were picked by most pundits to finish last in the metro and in the bottom 3 of the eastern conference , and rightly so. I hope we get to find out and they make the playoffs, but I would think it's a cinch top 3 nomination for him if he gets them to the dance. |

Tell me why Tortorella is above Tourigny in Arizona? Who is currently in a playoff position? Arizona finished 27th in the league last season. Why is he above Carbury in Washington who finished one spot above the Flyers last season? Washington is currently in a higher spot by points percentage than the Flyers

I think the Caps are gonna crash and burn, but we shall see. And they were projected as a bubble playoff team versus the Flyers being projected as nowhere near the playoffs. Lavy might get consideration with the Rags based on how they are playing, but again, they were projected as top 3 in the Metro heading into the season. I'll admit to being somewhat ignorant of Arizona and don't no where they were projected to finish this year. |

So your basing it on fantasy? Can you provide a link to this fictitious list of official projections for teams? I knew full well that you wouldn't be able to answer.

Yeah but for two years you’ve been preaching that Torts is a terrible coach - so if he gets a Jack Adams nod it would be you who has no clue. - anti-lame

Right, so Vancouver was not supposed to be in the playoff picture, and they are first in the entire NHL. Not denying Torts has done some good things, but the things I don't like outweigh his good. If the Flyers make the playoffs, Torts will get consideration..a vote of 2, but I don't think he is winning the Jack Adams for the Flyers making the playoffs like 250 is spouting.

Bill, do you think the guy that hit Frost will get a small suspension? Seemed pretty intentional. - Angus4444
according to Boucher he barely thought it was a penalty and even surmised that Frost maybe should take some of the blame...Boosh is an absolute tool. Very disappointed. I though he would have been a major upgrade over that other tool, you know, the one running the team.... |

Second game in a row where I felt the Flyers looked slow and had a bad 3rd period. The Flyers just didn't seem to have their legs in this one, and were out of sync for just about the entire game. In fact both goals the Flyers scored were lucky ones, with the first one off Frost's skates from behind the net (I have never seen this in all my years watching and playing hockey), and then Cout's PP goal where it looked like the Nashville defender poked the puck right to Couts in the slow. Even though the Flyers had over 30 shots, the Flyers only had 8 high danger chances overall, and once again lost the possession battle in the game and were badly out-chanced. The Flyers were lucky the other night to get 2 points against the Devils, tonight it caught up to them. - jd250
Which is why this latest winning streak is fool's gold, that will only set them back further. Is there any other team in all of sports where a winning streak can actually set the back? |

Well I said ND should sit, 523 of TOI is like sitting.
It could be here, Flyers look slower, lose a game, 2nd game of BTB and 3rd in 4 nights, then a break. Their first challenge to their season - wcorvette
So what if they sit him. They replace a prospect with some never was, who Tortorella will probably wind-up loving....ala Macewen, Sedlak, Seeler, the list goes on |

probably numerous injuries.
5 minutes for ND. Imagine having someone in that spot to play 10-12 to ease the burden on other players. Cam still getting quality time - hello it's me 2050
The chickens will come home to roost on this one. Couturier can barely skate. And giving him 20+ minutes a night after 2 back surgeries. This "asset" has to last 6 more years. Imagine buying a used car with 200K miles, getting an 8-year loan and then proceed to drive it 200 miles a day |

Boucher originally thought it was a major then after looking at it a number of times. Changed his mind that is was a major and instead thought it should've been a minor. I'm not sure I disagree with him. He never said that Frost should take some of the blame.

Boucher I thought was great on national broadcasts and thought he would carry over well into the Flyers broadcast. Not so. He is fighting it to put it lightly. Maybe trying a little too hard to carry the Comcast water bucket. |

when is cates due back? big decision to be made on who sits. Gonna be hard to decide. Wouldn't want to be the coach iin this case. - hello it's me 2050
for Totorella this is the easiest decision he makes al year -- Frost sits and he doesn't think twice about it |

Where are you getting that Couturier can barely skate? Couturier, for a player who missed almost two years of hockey, has been really good. He is the single biggest reason for the team's improvement. He is only going to get stronger.

I am, by the definition of the award, Torts should win it easily if the Flyers make the playoffs. Remember, the JA is for regular season only, what a team does in the playoffs does not matter, so just making the playoffs with this roster in the early stages of a rebuild is a hell of a coaching job. And yes MJL, I thought Torts deserved the award last season also, because no coach in the league had more of a positive impact on their respective franchises than Torts! |
