Karine Hains: In Hainsight: Known Shortcomings Lead to Humiliating Loss The Canadiens’ return to the Bell Centre didn’t exactly go as planned as known Habs killer Jeff Skinner gathered four points in a deserved Buffalo win.

Hughes watched the game from his bed full of quarters (average D prospects).

No progress. None.

This is the same team as last year, even from a standings/points point of view.

And enough with Jake Allen already (I know he's not the reason they lost), just waive him. Who cares. Let Primeau play.

And FFS find a real coach to assist St-Louis.

I want to say that I have nothing to do with this post. nothing whatsoever.
I approve 100% of it though. couldn't have said it better.

Seriously, they all look confused in their own zone and can't defend for poop especially on the PK.

So either all the players suck (which I doubt), or they need a new voice and system to at least look like there is some progress in at least 1 area.

edit: and the Rocket is in the exact same position. They suck.

The Sabres are going to miss the playoffs for a 13th season in a row. You can step down from your soapbox.

They're also the "tanking model" some people think the Habs should follow.

Yikes.

How long do we have to be patient with this rebuild?

The year they needed to tank was last year to get Bedard. They "failed" at that.

I do believe they need elite talent, you don't get that by picking outside of the top 10 at the draft. I would even say outside of the top 5 some years.

Also, you can't expect to rebuild a team in a year or two, except if you're the (frank)ing New York Rangers and every UFA wants to play for you.

Habs are stuck with contracts for players Bergevin fell in love with (Gallagher, Anderson, Dvorak, Armia), making Hughes' job even more difficult.

they will be good when the dcore is mature. so in 3-4 years. Hutson and Reinbacher are not even on the team yet!! and that is assuming they change their d system. with the current one, even a dcore of 6 Larry Robinsons would look bad.

until then we need to be patient, but we also need to see improvement. slowly but surely. something we have not seen so far, not as a team. I go back to my favorite gif Pete. we can be extremely patient with this little girl... she will always be at domino #1. lol

The Rocket's problems were a lot about goaltending. I don't know what they thought when they decided to start the season without a veteran. Mann and Dobes weren't doing the job early...Dobes is getting better, but he was getting a lot of starts lately and you don't want to burn him. Adding Kaskisuo was a good move, and it's going to help a lot.

They have a lot of young players just starting their professional hockey careers (Roy, Kidney, Farrell, Mailloux, Davidson, Dobes). Even Heineman, who has been playing professionaly in Sweden needs to adjust to the North American style and rink.

to answer your question, time for patience is over, because we have not seen improvements after almost 2 years. but that's just me.
things would be different if we were at domino #2 or #3. but we are still at domino #1.
