I hope so, I never liked the rule that a kid gets to pick his team just because he went 4 years.

Anyone know if elite NCAA hockey players are making real money from NIL deals?

I don’t understand why they’d lose leverage. The 20 GMs they spoke to knew that they were looking to move him because he didn’t want to be here. How would everyone knowing change anything?
- Dkos

I think it would depend on what the time frame was when he contacted 20 GM's. If it came about pretty quickly, say in the last day or so that he was calling. Then I can see it staying quiet. If it was over a period of time, then it would've probably leaked. Since there was no noise reported from reputable sources that normally get wind of these kind of things. I would guess that it was a quick process when they were shopping Gauthier.

It's puzzling that you would disagree with any of that.

Ok so if he has already told them 6 months ago he wants to be traded, won't sign, I want out..and Briere said as much in his mid period interview..( changed his mind on being a Flyer)and he was hoping to sign and play this year in the NHL, which has also come out that he was told to go to college this year, but he wanted to play in the NHL..I can see the bad feelings and frustrating growing.
He is away in Europe, playing in the biggest Junior hockey tournament in the world, and Jones and Briere show up. He has already told them no, I see disrespect on both sides. Probably hurt things more so than anything. It isn't his issue they decided to go to Europe...that's on them if he has already fully expressed himself to the team.
It is his right to not sign, and become available to whatever team he wants to sign with. It is his right. He isn't a borderline player...he is expected to be a top line forward. He isn't the first, and won't be the last.

I also never said he is disrespected by the team giving him guidance...but if he wanted to turn pro, and they stopped it..I can see that being an issue.

To be fair, the GMs may or may not know that information. Just because you think you knew doesn't necessarily mean they knew it was true. Maybe Danny went covert and left that bit out....
- Glak18

Why would they want to move the kid unless there was something up? If I were a GM I’d want to know why they were looking to move a very good prospect (right after he won the MVP at the world jrs). From the DB interview it sounds like the GMs he spoke to were told. He said it was nice of them to not let it out. I just don’t understand why it would make a difference.

Well his value certainly didn’t go down. And I’m not knocking drydale but he’s already on 2nd deal. 113 games and hasn’t shown top potential. Not that he can’t or won’t be good.

Try to think this way … if he’s looking to be real deal and all why would ducks move him? Do the duck seen enough ? Do they see something special in cutter?

I won’t crucify this deal but I smell a big rat here none of this lineups at all. Way too much spin coming out. Either way Philly does not look good in this.

I can see your skepticism and it is valid, maybe Flyers got another sour egg, but if he's in the lineup soon I don't think it's based on injuries. Maybe Ducks and Flyers discussed this deal before Drysdale was injured too, but the Flyers waited until he got back in the lineup. Drysdale is 21 too, that's really young for a dman. How many years did it take Hedman to break out? Dahlin? And those guys were top picks.

According to Danny that was the case. Trade was in the works a while. They were waiting to see how Drysdale looked coming back healthy.

How is requesting a short meeting or a phone call in any way disrespectful? It is his right not to sign. It's also the Flyers right to try and contact and talk to a player that they own the draft rights to. It's business. Can't look at the rights that one party has and ignore the rights that the other party has.

The team deciding what is going to happen with a player, happens all the time. You're not going to make the team. You're going back to juniors. You're getting scratched this game. You're going to the AHL. If he has an issue as a 19 year old player with that. Then he is the problem, not the Flyers.

Drysdale has missed over 100 games between last year and this year due to injury. He has played in only 18 of 121 Anaheim has played

That's my biggest worry. A torn labrum cost him a season and then he had a lower body injury this year. We all know the kind of luck that the Flyers have had with injury prone players.

Maybe wait until he plays for the Flyers and see if the trend continues. We don't want to welcome him to Philly as Nolan.

Ok..so if that was the case..why did they travel to Sweden? To say hi..we are trading you?

It tells me that they would've preferred keeping Gauthier rather than make the trade and gave it one last chance to talk to the player. When he still wouldn't talk to them, then they decided to go ahead and move him as soon as they had a deal they liked.

Last ditch effort to salvage it I guess. Idk. Cutter has to explain himself. You don’t just turn around on the team that drafted you and cut off all contact. Flyers had to do something truly egregious for it to make any sense but by all accounts they literally went halfway around the world to make it work for this kid.

If he has shot it down for over half a year...almost 8 months...then why now? at this tournament? with him winning best forward and gold medal...raining on his parade...if he told them he wasn't interested, trade me...or I won't sign, then going to Sweden to talk is ignorant. Oh look..here comes Clownboy Jones and his little sidekick Danny-boy.

I don't believe most of the crap the Flyers have spouted today...seems like they are trying to make excuses for when this blows up in their faces.

If what Danny says is true, which I still find it weird he would air that out (probably means him and the team were rather pissed), then for the sake of Cutter he better become a 50 goal scorer because he's going to hear about it a lot. From Philly fans, but probably other fans and players to get under his skin.

Because they were there to watch the tournament. You keep trying to paint it as disrespectful for an NHL team to try and attempt to talk to a player that they hold the draft rights to. Now you're calling it ignorant. That doesn't hold water. The Flyers have to protect their rights. If they really want the player, they have to exhaust all possibilities and chances. Not just give up. You're not being reasonable at all here, sorry.

“Hey, our top 5 pick who hasn’t played a second of NHL hockey is already trying to call the shots before cutting us off entirely, are you interested?” I can see why a lot of teams weren’t interested.

Kids got Lindros personality with Gagne talent.

Pure speculation but I bet he was right pissed off when the Flyers took Michkov over Leonard too lol. You know if Hak was still here Leonard is 100% a Flyer and Michkov falls to Washington.
