A friend of mine just let me know that apprently cutter wouldn’t meet with the flyers to look at signing. Doesn’t want to play in Philly. They had to trade him. Just what he’s heard.

I can't say I'm surprised. I posted here days ago that Gauthier didn't look like the best player at BC this year, Smith and Leonard were better, and I was not convinced he was going to be the goal scorer in the NHL as hoped. Again, I not saying he is a bad player by any means, he's still a very, very good prospect. But you have to give up something to get something.

The Flyers do fill a huge need, a true RHS potential number 1 defenseman, as elite prospects says:

Keith Jones has stated he thinks getting a number 1 defenseman is the most important position, and at the time Gauthier was drafted, there was some debate that the Flyers should have drafted Jiricek instead of Gauthier. Hopefully Shaw can work his magic with this kid.
