I love your confidence.
I admit it. I just can't go all in when the Cup is so hard to win. We are good and I love it. But, with teams like Vegas, Vancouver, Colorado, Dallas, Winnipeg (WTF????) we have zero guarantees and not terribly favourable odds.

oh I dont pay attention to the Western Conference Cup finalist until June, you never know what those playoffs will be like and who is left standing

Nor do we have any guarantee in 3 years!!!

We’re a good (frank)ing hockey team this year ffs

- Slimtj100

That's why I want the young Dman and this year's 1st.
We're good. If we play the way we're capable of, we have as good a shot as any team. AND, we would still be as good (and hopefully improving) over the next seasons not having depleted our assets.
I'm not saying I'm right and you're wrong. It's way too complicated for that. I'm just more comfortable with the club trying to regain our top form as is (more or less), than mortgaging the future (somewhat) for one really strong shot at it.

lol, I didn't even realize I had only listed Western teams! I guess maybe sub-consciously I'm less worried about the teams we know better.

Dumping goodrow and having 3 million plus to play with is much more valuable than a draft pick we may not even ever see. Lias Andersson. Kravtsov. I could go on. It’s a loser mentality. We also haven’t traded a damn thing prospect wise at all. We still have all of them

I love you man. I’d just like to talk openly and honestly without being mocked. I love this (frank)ing team sometimes more than life itself. I vent I get excited I trade guys, that’s me🤷🏻‍♂️

even if we were playing perfect hockey right now, right through mid-April, I don't care who out first round opponent will be, the playoff series will be extremely difficult

if season ended today we'd be facing Kucherov, Vasilevskiy and Stamkos again

if Tampa gets in they can absolutely switch a button and be great again, I have no doubt

It would be nice to know this feeling in May rather than Oct.

TB bottom 6 is worse than ours. They may not even make it this year. Their D corp is atrocious also after hedman and Sergachev. They should actually sell but they won’t do that yet imo

the Islanders were like that in 1983, 1984

much different times now, much harder to make the playoffs, Cap issues now, etc, but the Islanders could just flounder around during those years and then ramp it up when playoffs begin and Tampa kind of reminds me of that

Leafs:

"Going into the 2024-25 season, the Leafs will have $54.15 million allocated towards five players in Auston Matthews, Nylander, Mitch Marner, John Tavares, and Morgan Rielly. All five have no movement clauses"

man, that's wild stuff

- jimbro83

Yes, crazy. But i believe Tavares' contract is up after next season. So with his cap hit removed and the salary cap rising in 25-26, they'll likely only have issues for next season

They’re gonna move Marner I bet. Not this year, but I could see him being moved in the summer

Has a full NMC. So unless he asks, that's not happening.

I do remember a lot of people speculating that they should trade Marner before his NMC kicked in July 1st 2023

I mean that should have just traded Nylander. The move was easier.

The thing with Gudas is guys like him are necessary in the playoffs.

However we still have a lot of work to do on the bottom 6. Id also consider a move to replace Gus.

Bread trocheck laf
Bonino leschyshyn JBrod
Vesey goodrow wheeler

- picklerick

Would be cool if Kakko could actually play center a la his countryman Barkov.

And, since he grew up about 20 miles from the rink he now calls home, I doubt he will.
