No a single player had a good game defensively. Just a piss poor showing, yet again. Also I'm ready to stand by what I say next whole heartedly.
1.) I would be more than fine never seeing Bonino, Brodzinski, Wheeler, or Goodrow play for the Rangers ever again.
2.) Time to send Othmann back to Hartford. No point Laviolette not playing him here when he can get top 6 minutes in Hartford. |

For as bad as they played yesterday, they still had a chance to win. Demko made at least 3-4 big saves in the second to keep Vancouver up by 1. |

Great blog Jan!
Tom, agree with everything you said. The team just played like dog water last night. Lifeless other than the first PP goal at the start of the game. Costly turnovers, defense asleep at the wheel, it was a mess.
Bonino & Wheeler are really showing why they were signed for $800k. Bonino is just so inept offensively, same with Goodrow. There needs to be some life injected into that line. Once Edstrom gets healthy, he should get another look. And they have to give Othmann the chance to blossom in the top six if they are going to keep him up here. What they are doing to him is more harm than good for a young kid. Let him go back to the A and play top minutes.
I have plenty faith that these mishaps will get corrected. But man, its super frustrating to see some of the same lapses occur in back to back games. Oh well, on to the Blues on Thursday! |

Move Cuylle up, trade for a center. Hopefully Kakko is back shortly
Kreider Zib Cuylle
Panarin Trocheck Laf
Vesey xxxxx Kakko
Goodrow Bonino Wheeler
(The 4th line needs work but these guys are probably playing)
That’s about the best we can do imo - Slimtj100
Goodrow bonino and wheeler all can’t play at the same time let alone same line. None of them can skate or defend well at this point. They drive zero offense. Any contending team is only icing one of those players

Spot on with number one. You can only field one of those players over 82 games. The fact all 4 are playing nightly is scary

Thanks man, trying to to be less incendiary with the takes. But watching those 4 yesterday was driving me crazy. (Every Ranger had a bad game in the defensive zone though. Just a dumpster fire of a game.) |

and what's sick is they still had a chance to win that game if demko isnt standing on his head.
kind of knew it was over at 2-1, wheeler gets a chance wide open in the slot and sails his shot about 4 feet wide uncontested.

how many turnovers did goodrow have last night trying to make a lazy backhand pass? i coudnt 3/4, with the first directly leading to the opening goal. last backhand play in the defensive corner that's intercepted and was in our net 3 seconds later |

3 line team.
I agree with you. Just don’t think any of them sit. They can’t be on the 3rd line that’s for sure. They have enough top 9 players if they’re all healthy
They need a goddamn trade like a quantity over quality trade. Where you push down bonino and Wheeler out of the lineup and scratches. Goodrow is playing whether we like it or not. Ruzicka would be a good pick up (since that rumor surfaced). Not that exact rumor which was crazy, but part of it |

if he can't see out of that (frank)ing fishbowl, then maybe he should take a game or two in the pressbox if his face is broken. dude seems blind. |

If he doesn’t get bought out that’s a fireable offense on Drury. The cap lift will allow that more then ever now
Half the lineup is AHL like players so it’s not a shock they’re playing like this at times. Getting Kakko back, and I can’t believe im saying this lol, will help ALOT defensively. Offensively we’ll see. We can only hope |

agree, and you're correct earlier. he's going to play this year it just is what it is. he has to bring something to this team other than above average PK'ing. |

I’m going to assume he would’ve been bought out this summer if the cap had raised by then. So they gave him one more year, and will do so next year. They gain 250k I think doing it too. Where every penny matters it’s a no brainer
Maybe a miracle happens and they trade him because a team could just buy him out and get a pick from us they may be willing. We kinda need him off the team this year is the thing
Suppose TB called and said hey we’ll take Barclay back, with a first rder for some bottom 6 help and they buy him out. They need picks in the worst way. He’d waive to go there. That’s kind of what I mean. Attach a first is the only to do it I think. We got Motte again lol and maybe a D |

I noticed that as well. He's a fking disaster. I get he's a good locker room guy and the NYR brass love him, but at some point they have to take the on ice product into consideration and realize not only is he unproductive, but he's a liability more times than not

With the move of trading goodrow this year, presumably to do some major roster reshaping with his vacated cap room, it seems unwise to burn our first rounder to do that. The whole point would be freeing us of Goodrow to make us a serious contender this postseason. A 1st would be too much to attach for it to make sense |

Tampa is in worse cap shape than us
this year Hagel is making 1.5 million, he jumps to 6.5 mil next year

That why you have to give them a first rder. They’ve traded soooo many picks recently and have to start thinking about a retool at some point. |
