Handy men of HB. A single kitchen cabinet door cracked all the way down the middle and needs to be replaced. The kitchen was redone 20 years ago by the previous owner and I have no way of replacing it with the exact same door. Obviously I’m not redoing my kitchen cabinets just for one door. What’s my best option?

You dont need to redo the cabinets but you can get all the doors redone… or turn it into a decorative shelf.

If you can, have someone try to glue and fix the broken door. That is the only way to have the exact color match. If not you need a cabinet maker to make the door from scratch and then try to match the color or stain.

If it's just a crack and not broken apart, then force something like gorilla glue into the crack to hold it together. Once dry, fill the remaining gap with wood filler, sand down once completely dry, repaint.

It’s split 90% of the way down and is being held together by tape. Have to keep it closed and locked so my toddler doesn’t break everything in it

It was a lot. The house owner turned the garage into an apt (where I lived). It was damp and just a blah place. I rushed into the place after a break up lol 😂 it was cheap so I took it.

Best part about that place was I had a girl over when Hagelin scored in OT vs Pittsburgh, and I banged her before OT started real quick. I thought I better do that more often!

It has to be replaced. The crack starts at the top and goes almost all the way down. If the tape wasn’t there it would split in half under its own weight

It doesn't have to be replaced.

Take the door off the hinge, inject wood glue into the two pieces (best wood glue is titebond II).it may be advisable to finish the crack but obviously can't see it under the tape.

Once glue is applied, clamp the door and remove excess wood glue from the front with a wet rag

Wait 24hours, remove clamp, remount door

The biggest issue(s) is that I’m lazy and also without a door on it my 2 year old is going to destroy everything. Even if I empty it out he will obliterate the shelf in there because he’s insane. Maybe I’ll give it a shot though

Thanks
