I remember when they drafted him and he wouldn't put jersey on

Lindros vs Gauthier situations were actually VERY different!
Lindros told Quebec BEFORE the draft NOT to take him, that he wouldn't play for them.
Quebec, armed with that statement, took him anyway.
Gauthier initially told Philthy that he was going to play for them. They drafted him and then something changed.
Now I'm not siding with Gauthier or excusing his behavior here. Its very immature and reflects poorly on him. However, it really is an apples to orange comparison with Lindros.

We cannot say much. After all, Fox did the same thing to get here.

Sounds like Gauthier didn't like that Philly didn't sign him after the NCAA season last year because of bonus overage issues. Plenty of debate there whether or not that's something that should upset him, but at least it's not like he just woke up one day and decided he didn't want to play for the Flyers.

I mean, do you feel that Fox is immature and what he did reflected poorly on him? Because that's exactly how he ended up on the Rangers. In fact, he exercised even more control over the Hurricanes than Gauthier did to the Flyers. Circumstances were a bit different, in that he was about to be a UFA, but he picked the exact team he wanted to go to.

well ultimately it was still smart for Quebec to take Lindros anyway because they got probably the ultimate trade haul in NHL history, actually traded him for two hauls at the same time

I couldn’t give a poop what their reason is. It’s their right to try and work where they want to work. A team can try to facilitate it or not. Fox got to play for his hometown team. Good for him. Lindros doesn’t like Francophones, goddamn right. Cutter hates Philly. Do you kid.
People really gotta stop “kids these days’ing” everything

I totally agree with this
Lindros was his own case obviously, but teams know the risk of drafting a college bound player, they all can stay 4 years in school and then become free agents if they want to, in its the CBA
